  1. I was also on a waitlist until today, and then I got a call this afternoon with an offer of admission to Emory! I accepted it, and now I am a lot less stressed out. Best of luck to you!
  2. I got the email today telling me that I was on the wait list, but it didn't tell me what place I was. I decided to email the program director, and he told me my position.
  3. I just got the same message from Duke regarding the NT Ph.D. program. I guess they are alerting many (or all) of the applicants at the same time?
  4. I just heard from the chair of the NT subfield at Emory that the GDR selection committee is meeting on Friday to select the successful applicants.
  5. I attended the GDR weekend and had a great time. Do you have any idea based on your experience about when the first round of offers should go out?
  6. Here is what Emory states on its website: "Official notification for admission to the GDR is April 15. Every effort is made, however, to notify applicants of their acceptance as soon as possible. The chairs of the Courses of Study to which applicants apply will contact them during late January or early February inviting them to our annual recruitment weekend. It should be noted, however, that an invitation to recruitment weekend does not guarantee admission, nor does the absence of an invitation mean an applicant has been denied admission. Applicants who have not been invited to our annual recruitment weekend will be notified as early as possible that their applications are still under consideration. Applicants who cannot be accepted are normally notified in late February or early March." The top applicants are invited to the recruitment weekend, but Emory may decide that it does not want to offer make an offer of admission to all of these top applicants. Additionally, interviewed candidates may take other offers, and this would open up more spots. If you have not heard anything yet it is probably an indication that they did not consider you to be a top applicant, but things could change over the next couple months.
  7. I believe that all of the interviews have gone out, but this doesn't necessarily mean that you have been rejected.
  8. I just got an invitation to interview for Marquette's JCA program via Skype. It looks like it will be happening next week.
  9. The Ph.D. program at Marquette has several subfields; which one did you apply to?
  10. I visited Marquette a few months ago, and the program director told me that they do not really do much with the applications until February at the earliest.
  11. I just got an invitation to Emory's preview weekend (Ph.D. in Religion, New Testament), Feb. 6–7.
  12. I applied to CUA as well (Ph.D. in Biblical Studies). I was invited a few weeks ago to a preview weekend (invitation only) that is taking place Jan. 25–26, and I am planning to attend.
