  1. Some good news and a lot of rejections... my updated list as of 3/16 (MFA in Painting/Drawing or similar): Accepted: SFAI (mail 3-15) - have yet to receive funding info Rejected: Univ. of Washington (mail 3-6? ish) UCLA (email 3-13) PNCA (mail 3-16) SAIC (mail 3-10? ish) No Word: RISD Columbia (Although I'm pretty sure of a rejection on both of these) I guess I'm moving to San Francisco!
  2. Got my first rejection letter yesterday (March 6) from the University of Washington in painting. So sad! Just wanted to let ya'll know to watch out for mail this week. I live in Portland so I'm sure it got to me super fast. Good luck to everyone! Here's my updated list (all in painting/drawing/visual studies where applicable): Rejected: Univ. of Washington (3/6) Interview: SFAI (3/10) No word: SAIC RISD Columbia UCLA PNCA
  3. The east coast is pretty cool... grew up in pennsylvania and lived in jersey city for awhile outside of NYC. I think I'm officially a west coast girl now though (unless Columbia or RISD miraculously called me and said you're in and we're paying for you to go to school! hahaha!). Can't beat the "winters"! I still haven't heard from SAIC for painting either way alizarin. I think a bunch of people have had interviews and rejections... it's really weirding me out at this point. Anyways... I guess we're kinda in the same boat if you're still waiting to hear as well. Getting kinda cranky at these schools... I hope to hear some good news soon!
  4. no word again today from anyone... so weird! now i'm wondering if i'm getting my mail... nothing in my mailbox since monday. hmmm...
  5. Congrats Savant! So awesome! Did you interview with them or did they just send you a letter in the mail saying you got in?? You live in AZ and I live in Oregon sooo... maybe I'll hear one way or another tomorrow. My post sometimes takes a day longer than normal. P.S. I heart Tucson! Is that where you're from? I saw your post on the SAIC facebook site. I visit about once a year... I've got a few friends down there that I just love dearly. Went for the All Souls Procession in November... freaking incredible! and the saguaros... they're pretty much the most magical things ever!
  6. I haven't seen anyone on this message board yet say anything either way about UCLA - no need to throw your hopes away on that one yet, Alizarin! I'm so jealous/happy for you about your RISD interview! That's so rad! Congrats! You'll do just fine - just relax and be yourself. Honesty is always the best policy. I'm excited about SFAI - I originally moved from Pennsylvania to Portland about 4 and a half years ago. I'm not sure I could see myself on the east coast again so I'm happy to have SFAI as a possibility. San Fran would be fantastic! Here's to hoping, for both of us!!
  7. P.P.S. I also emailed UCLA admissions yesterday and I just now got this response: Hello Michelle, Applicants can expect to receive notification regarding admissions decision in mid-March. Thanks for following up. Best, Department of Art
  8. Anyone out there still not heard from SAIC??? I was thinking a rejection would be in my mailbox today since a few others said they got theirs on Monday. Maybe because I'm on the west coast it takes longer... grrrr!!!! I'm seriously sick to my stomach at this point. In other news, I emailed RISD admissions for painting and they said: Hello Michelle, Thank you for applying to Rhode Island School of Design. We haven't heard from the graduate Painting Department yet. Graduate decision letters are scheduled to be mailed by March 24th. Good luck with your application! Admissions Office Rhode Island School of Design I'm not sure what this means, especially since I saw someone post that they have an interview on March 24. I'm so confused! I wish it were all over. So to recap once more: Interview: SFAI (March 10) No Word: SAIC, RISD, Columbia, UCLA, PNCA, Univ. of Washington P.S. I had a friend that applied to the Univ. of Washington a few years ago (he ended up going to Cranbrook and graduated last Spring) and they didn't call him until the end of May! No word until the end of May when they finally told him he was accepted... he told them he was leaving for Michigan the next day and that was that. I can't wait until June!!! AGH!!!!
  9. I guess I'll be getting mine tomorrow then... oh well. Still nothing from: SAIC Columbia RISD UCLA PNCA Univ. of Washington Interview next week: SFAI Getting kinda tired of all of this waiting... and no word! Is it May yet?!?
  10. Hey everyone - so I just talked to a good friend of mine who works at CCA and he told me that if we haven't heard from schools either way, it's probably a good thing. His exact words were, "the longer it takes to hear, the better" so that made me feel better - only heard from SFAI so far with an interview next week. I'm fretting about not hearing from schools and assuming I'm out because I haven't heard, but after talking with him I realized that he may be right and that I shouldn't worry until there's something to worry about. Just thought I'd pass along the positive vibes...
  11. Was feeling really good about my one interview from SFAI... after reading everyone's acceptances and not hearing either way from anyone else, I'm starting to get a little down about things. I guess I'm either rejected or wait-listed for SAIC (no word either way from them) and haven't heard anything from RISD so I'm assuming the same for them. Lamesville! But am happy for you all getting positive feedback. More waiting I guess...
  12. Spaced - still nothing from SAIC for me either. I feel the same way.. it's driving me craaaazy! that i don't know either way. I'm fine with the rejection letter at this point (sorta) but I'd really just like to get it over with so I can cross that anxiety off the list. Funny thing about this, I got an email from the art education dept the other day about an interview with them... I didn't apply to that program. Weird huh? All I got back when I emailed them about the mix-up was an email saying they forwarded my email to the office of admissions. I have no clue what's going on! So scary and bizarre. Anyways... yeah I guess we'll just have to wait. Do you have a website of your work, Spaced? I wonder if we're in the "we like these peoples' work but not as much as these other peoples'... we'll see how the other interviews turn out first?? then contact them" pile?? Who knows... truly bothersome. but best of luck to both of us!
  13. So still nothing from SAIC's painting program... but oddly enough, I got an email today asking me to contact SAIC's art education department about an interview with them?!?!!! I didn't even apply to that program! I'm just beyond confused... has anyone else not heard anything from SAIC for painting yet? It's driving me crazy! and still nothing from: Columbia RISD UCLA PNCA Univ. of Wash. Interview with SFAI scheduled for next Tuesday... wish me luck!
  14. I wonder if that's what's going on... all the people that initially got rejected heard last week and the people who got interviews heard the week before. I guess all the people that got rejected but were asked to do their post-bac at SAIC will hear this week?? That's my conjecture... I still haven't heard from them either. Where do you live Grafeef? Wondering if I'll get the same letter tomorrow... Anyways, I have a friend of a friend that is going to SAIC for their post-bac and they like it a lot. I think it's for the people they think have potential but aren't quite there yet in SAIC's eyes. I don't have a BFA either but I'm not sure that really makes a difference if you have a strong portfolio. Just my thoughts...
  15. Wow! So many schools! I still haven't heard anything from SAIC; I thought for sure today but no. The wait continues... still no word from any school except SFAI. Interview next Tuesday... so scary!
