  1. oops, sorry, I didn't mean to post the comment on your profile, as you didn't send me a message. I was viewing a different profile that i thought was mine.

  2. Hi, I'm sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. No, I have not received a message from you.

  3. So, yesterday I posted a seemingly innocuous question on this thread. "does anyone have any info on Cornell?" Twentyish minutes later (according to future posters) Cornell sent out admit notifications. Sadly I did not get one. Now, I'm not implying that correlation = causation, but with the way this process works, who knows. Let's see if my magic skillz work again. Does anyone know anything about Brown? PS RE: the Columbia discussion. I finally logged into the Columbia application to check my status form, and it said Completed and Yes (at the department). However, I wouldn't read much into the timing of these updates. I would bet that updating these things is pretty low on the priority list.
  4. I heard from them this past Sunday. A prof from the adcom contacting me to gauge my interest level in the program. He referenced the other schools I listed on my app that I am applying to, and told me that BC's program is much smaller. However, if you didn't get anything like this from them, I wouldn't read anything into it. In the email he said they were still finalizing the process. So it sounds like they might not say anything until next week. For what it's worth, I asked them to withdraw my application from consideration. I hope you get good news from them soon!
  5. I can't even access my application status form. I'm getting an error message. I checked last week after admits went out, and I don't recall my form having anything in those fields. I get the impression that the form is not updated regularly, so I wouldn't worry about it.
  6. Yay!!! Congrats on the positive news! I hope it works out for you and that this is the beginning of a streak of good news for you
  7. Does anyone have any news on Cornell?
  8. this is turning into a rough night. Any Harvard comparativist admits out there?
  9. I received an email last night (Sunday) asking me if I was still interested in the program, and stating that they are finalizing decisions. I already have an offer from a school that I would attend over BC, so I asked to be removed from consideration. Best of luck to those of you still waiting!
  10. Your assumption is correct. Even though I know getting my hopes up will make bad news hurt even worse, I just can't seem to not get my hopes up no matter how much I tell myself not to. Like you, I received encouraging feedback from my top choice (and other places I've been rejected at), but if anything, I've learned not to read much of anything into that feedback at all, other than maybe the fact that my interests fit with the program. I think we can both make it. I look forward to meeting you at the visit.
  11. I'm also a Princeton reject, and a likely Columbia reject. I'm hoping for good news from my top choice next week, but I'll try not to get my hopes up too high.
  12. Well, the good news is that my tip regarding Columbia admissions decisions was correct! Bad news, no news from Columbia for me yet. Are any of the admitted comparativists? Congrats to all the admits!
  13. This is surprising. From the online application, I got the impression that Princeton was trying to "go green", with the emphasis on electronic transcripts, etc.
  14. I've heard from an inside source that Columbia plans to notify on Feb 19.
  15. Yep, that was me. A friend told me a while ago, the plan for Columbia is to announce on the 19th.
  16. I'm in comparative and I was accepted at Berkeley this past Tuesday morning. Hopefully there will be more good news for others from them soon.
  17. Do you plan to visit at least?
  18. Yep, they are open today: "Due to the snow storm, Princeton University has delayed its opening until 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, for non-critical staff. All critical and essential employees should report to work at their normal duty times. Academic classes will be held as scheduled." Source: http://www.princeton.edu/main/news/emergency/
  19. I hope that's what it means! I applied last year, and this year they are using a different application program. Last year I think they used either embark or applyourself, one of the ones I've seen used more often. So, its possible that the new system they are using this year may change how they disseminate results.
  20. I'm interesting in hearing about what's going on with Princeton as well. I just about gave myself a heart attack. I checked my email after seeing all these Princeton posts on the results page, and saw that I had a new message. The word "Politics" was in the subject line.....turned out to be the Politics email update from the NYTimes....
  21. I've heard from an inside source that Columbia will release decisions on the 19th of Feb
  22. Email is pretty from the chair, and pretty generic, so it appears as though it is a mass email. FYI for those of you who have been asking about visit dates: the Berekely visit dates are March 7-8.
  23. Email was from the department. For whomever asked about my GREs, both Q and V are above 700 and below 750.
