  1. I've been neither accepted nor rejected... nothing about anything on the UPenn "Apply Yourself" website other than "Application Status: Complete". I emailed them at the beginning of February because they never updated my file (so it looked like I was missing material) and they told me that my application had been sent for review but it could be a "lengthy process and hoped to make decisions by the end of the month". I guess it's taking a little longer than they've expected...

If you sign into your application at UPenn, through the apply yourself website it will let you know the status of your application. For people that have been accepted/rejected, does it say that?

  2. I think it's kind of odd, I heard back from my top two choices first, but no word from my "safety schools," which is the complete opposite of what I would expect. I'm obviously happy about it, just still surprised no word from the safeties and thought it was odd. Anyone else see this?

Also, I didn't have to interview at any of the schools I applied to/go accepted at. I applied to only East Coast schools, so is that just a West Coast thing? Or I just happened to apply to schools who don't interview lol. I'm kinda glad I didn't have to, but I just didn't realize chem programs did it at all until I saw a bunch of people on here mention interviews.

Same... I had never heard of Chem Dept interviews until people started posting here. Maybe they interview on a case-by-case basis or for special fellowships? Anyways, still waiting on UPenn, MIT and Harvard. Also, I originally applied to BU as more of a "safety school", but am still strongly considering it. Does anyone know much about their department, specifically in the field of Organic (i.e anyone who is an undergrad there or has some "inside knowledge")?

  3. But pretty much you told the travel agent where you wanted to fly out of, they come back with some choices for time, and then you just give them the info and they did it for you. I have heard some schools make you book the flight yourself and then reimburse, but I haven't had that yet.

Johns Hopkins has you book your own flight. Not sure how reimbursement works, though...

  4. Hi,

I was wondering if anyone knows if Johns Hopkins has more than one visitation weekend. I have been accepted to/am still waiting to hear from other schools, but I want to begin scheduling flights. I don't want to jinx myself, but in the event that I would be accepted to JHU, I would want to have that weekend available.

    Thanks!

The only one JHU mentioned was 3/12-3/14.

  5. When did you submit your application to Johns Hopkins? I submitted mine very close to the deadline, which was just over a week ago, and I haven't heard anything yet. (i.e. Do you think they have rolling admissions, or is this not a good sign?)

Submitted JHU in the beginning-middle of December. I would assume most programs are rolling... can't say for sure, though.

  6. Hey, guys and gals.

Heard from CalTech, UIUC, Northwestern, Scripps, and Princeton. Waiting for Yale, Harvard, MIT, UT Austin, and Stanford.

    Good luck, everyone!

UptownWit: Can you (and others) reply with a little more about what specific programs you applied to (i.e generic chemistry or a specific sub-program)/outcome? I think it would be helpful for others to have this information rather than just knowing vaguely what schools someone has heard from. Thanks!
