I was in the post bac program at kean and one of my classmates, who is still taking classes there, was told by one of the professors on the admissions board. Very discouraging information

Just got wait-listed at Montclair... I'm dyinggg to hear from Kean... Apparently there were over 900 applications there so I'm not feeling great about my chances. Good luck everyone!

I called them a few weeks ago and CSUN said they would send out decisions either the first or second week of April.... So yes they wait last minute!

So they are tentatively changing the date of the open house so I can no longer go I really wanted to see the school and what it had to offer so I knew what I was getting into if I went here.

Has anyone else heard from Kean or Montclair? I only saw a sprinkling of responses in the results.

That's a great idea... I'm going to be attending open houses if I can. Can you guys think of some good questions to ask them?

Hey, I am currently an ABA therapist in NJ and there are no special requirements here except a BA (preferably in psych). I absolutely love the work and think that it is a great experience that is relevant to the field. I specifically work in an early intervention center for children on the spectrum. I absolutely adore working with this population and am planning on becoming a BCBA after getting an MA in Speech. The only thing I can say is that one of my professors was a little judgmental about ABA and she was vocal about it when I told her I worked in ABA. Personally, I thought it was unprofessional of her to voice this opinion, but I just brushed it off. Maybe ask some of you top choice program's directors what they think of ABA as experience? If you can find a center that will train you, I would highly recommend getting the experience! Best of luck!!

yea.. I'm also thinking about driving down with my boyfriend, but it's an 18 hour drive from nj! I have yet to hear from another school so it may end up being my only option. I'm such a foodie so thanks for the rec! I seemed to be getting responses through email pretty quickly so maybe try that! I applied for the GA and am dying to hear if I get one! The said we would know by next week at the latest. I need to find out if my postbac classes will cover all the pre-reqs required at USF. I'll let you guys know when I found out.

I have the same concerns as you! I hope we can get some quality insight on here. Are you going to the open house? I'm thinking about it, but since it's over easter weekend the flights are a fortune!

I am an out of field applicant (did my postbac for slp pre-reqs at Kean) and was accepted so you don't need to have your BA in CSD! They probably mean people don't reach the 3.0 minimum gpa or 50% GRE scores. Stay hopeful because they only sent 1 round of acceptance so far! best of luck

When I called CSUN they said they were not going to have interviews. I can't believe we have to wait another month for a response!

Frantically went to check the mail in hopes of an envelope from Kean, but there was nothing for me. I'm only about 30 minutes away also so I'm pretty negative about my chances now. Looks like they sent all acceptances at once last year....

I believe they notified late last year because they were going through re accrediting with ASHA. Also their deadline was earlier this year. That makes me think they will (hopefully) send out notifications earlier. *FINGERS CROSSED*

What's up with these schools!? Don't they know each hour we don't hear kills us a little?? I haven't heard a peep from the NYC CUNY schools, Montclair, or stockton... Kean sent an email that said 3 to 5 weeks, 4 weeks ago.

haha i got an email with the subject "Can you come in for an interview" and I thought it was from a school.... but it was for a babysitting job FML

My undergrad GPA was a 3.27 so that is the GPA I had when applying to the post bacc program. In the post bacc program I have a 4.0

Everyone brings up great points! I've also been told that the school doesn't really matter as long as it is accredited. I started with places I want to live (nj/NY because I can live at home, California because I have friends and family I can live with there, and Florida because it's cheap and warm). Then I had to make sure I was covered in the prerequisite department. Then I looked at cost. I don't have much saved and I'm terrified of debt so I looked at the price of each program and eliminated anything over $55,000 even though that number still sounds ridiculous. Then I cut my number to my top 8 choices. I didn't look at acceptance rates, which, in hindsight I probably should have. Thankfully I've received 1 acceptance so far so the worrying has slightly subsided. Best of luck!

I applied to the residential program. I got an email but my portal still says that it's been forwarded to the department.
