I am currently an undergrad in UNC. I took several SPH courses and I loved it. The fundings in UNC SPH are a lot, from my knowledge but I am not sure about MCH program. Plus, unc has a really greta infectious disease program in school of medicine and I think you can collaborate with them to do some research (if that's what you are interested.) As for Columbia, I heard they had many opportunities for MPH but there are some concerns with regard the funding in Columbia . I got into both, but I just do not really wanna spend another 2 years in UNC so I choose Columbia instead. But if you really wanna do research in the long-term, UNC is a better place.

Hey I think I will definitely reject Emory -
Yeah, I agree with you BU offers me MS instead of MPH, which is awesome! and Columbia has the program that I am interested in studying but I do not know much about the job outlook so I have to email them. I saw the renting problem in NYC and the cost , but for a long run, columbia is definitely my best choice.

So I basically got in multiple schools for environmental health study. But I am debating on either choosing Emory, Columbia, or BU. I personally love BU, and Columbia. Columbia gave me an offer for 2 year climate health certificate program for environmental health. And BU switched me to MS to do environmental health research, which is unexpected. I applied for MPH global environmental health for Emory and also got accepted. Now, I do not know which one is the best. Can anyone who happen to be in the program give me some info about those schools and research and career options? Thanks!!

MPH in the UK and Europe - anti-Americanism
tmiaj1 replied to out.to.sea's topic in Public Health Forum
I wish I have a chance to apply MPH in Northern Europe. I have been researching with a professor since sophomore years and we also collaborate with northern european college doing research. In my opinion, I think some of the problem over there are better than here. -
YO, same!

Do they send out the decision through email or what?

I think GRE is just one part of the whole application. I guess, we both need to be patient. -
same here. My GPA is low since I took some many science classes (math and bio double major) and my GRE is ok 90% for both. And i am applying for environmental health without much experience . I am freaking out and I have no idea where i will end up to

I realized that people are getting admitted by schools but most of them are epidemiology. And there 's no sign of environmental health folks. Should I email the admission office and ask?

So I was doing a research in a NGO last summer and the research was related with the grad school program that I am about to apply for. I am asking the research coordinator to write as my 3rd recommendation letter. My first recommendation letter is from a professor and second is from the research lab project leader whom I have been working on for a year but she's a master student. so i am not sure if it's a good idea if i made the correction choice to choose the coordinator as my third recommendation letter source. Please help!!

So I just got my first GRE score. Verb 74%, Q 89% My gpa is relatively low. like a 3.0 but it probably will increase to 3.2 at the end of this semester. I just started to ask professors write recommendation for me and I looked through the previous year topic of application. Looks like applying early would be a good choice to increase my acceptance rate. So I am wondering how early should I apply? Also, I 'd like really hear some advice on selecting school for mph ehs program. I'd really appreciate your help Thanks a lot

Can I still apply for grad school with a low GPA?
tmiaj1 replied to tmiaj1's topic in Public Health Forum
how do I calculate the major gpa? Do I include all the chemistry class I take and calculate the gpa? or do I just calculate the number of chemistry classes that are required in my major? -
I am a senior right now, major in Chemistry and Math. My overall GPA is pretty low, like 2.90. But my major GPA of chemistry is 3.6+. I am considering apply for MPH for environmental health program. I don't know if my low overall GPA will affect my application. Please help and give me some advice, I am really frustrated.
