  1. My credentials would not help as they are absolutely incommensurable with the profiles one sees here but am giving it anyway. GRE Verbal: 720, Do not have a 4 point GPA as my entire academic history is located in India. We have a 6 point scale in our university. Good grades but can't imagine Adcoms being able to tell either way cos our grading system is so different. The only parts of my application they could have evaluated were my SOP, reccos and writing sample. Undergrad was done in economics, got MA and Mphil in English literature. My SOP was centered around lyric subjectivity and postmodern poetry. I am sure this does not help but thought I'd respond to your request. Good luck with all your applications, I am sure there are a few spots left for Buffalo (going by gradcafe results, I would think around 4 are left of the stipulated 11).
  2. No, I don't think it is the alphabet. I have a vague feeling it is the departmental slot or field for which they have specific acceptances and waitlists. My name begins with a D and my field is postmodern lyric poetry, basically poetics
  3. My status changed from "Not Reviewed - 2/02/10" to "Accept/Admit - 2/18/2010" when i checked today! But I have not received an email or a phone call regarding the decision. I definitely hope this is not an unfunded position as that wont translate into good news for me. I hope this news is confirmed in tandem with a funding package. Anyway, they are at least still informing, so there is bound to be more offers coming up. Good luck to everybody else who is waiting.
  4. I am very sorry to hear about your grandmother.

Hope you have the strength to deal with this loss during this difficult period.

  5. Hello people, You have all been very helpful and gracious. Thank you for that. I have already been rejected (implicitly) by two (which were my top choices) schools already. I was hoping that you could share some info, surmise, speculation, etc on when the rest of the schools I am applying to are notifying. I would be grateful for any other related information too. Sorry for hijacking a whole thread like this but I want to be able to control the restlessness and anxiety a bit and thought some information would be a refreshing change from fretting in a vacuum. The rest of the schools I am applying to are: 1) Cornell 2) Notre Dame 3) Johns Hopkins 4) WUSTL 5) UPenn (Ya right! Dream On) THANKS again.
  6. Where in the website did the message come? My application account still says NOT REVIEWED. Thanks
  7. Thanks for the wishes, Midnight. I could really do with some luck. You seem to be doing Fabulous by the way. Congrats! I called the graduate assistant at Buffalo today and through all the bad reception (international call) I heard that my application has neither been reviewed nor rejected. I find that a little strange as so many people seem to have gotten offers from Buffalo. Do you really think there are still some applications which are under review or did she not want to break the BAD news so early? :(Am in the doldrums. Dear Simpleton, Thank you on behalf of many a nervous applicant for your gallant deed. I cant find the thread but I remember that someone was saying that they got into both Chicago and SUNY B and was leaving SUNY B to join Chicago. Since s/he is at Buffalo, maybe they can throw light on whether application review is complete or not? I got the feeling I irritated the graduate assistant a bit, I hope it doesn't not work against me.
  8. Thanks, strokeofmidnight Have applied to Upenn. Though I am regarding it as a non application after seeing the acceptance rate for this year. Did not apply to Berkeley because of the fit factor (and also thought it a tad presumptuous applying to the highest ranked school and all.) Are you on the poetics side of things as well?
  9. Thank you. I almost wish I get a rejection . It would at least break with the anxiety.
  10. Hello there, I've been anxiously lurking around for a couple of weeks now. Would anybody know whether SUNY Buffalo and Chicago are finished with making offers? Saw a few acceptances on the results page and even called the schools but they did not give any definite answers. I am an international student, so I am kind of out of the loop with information coming from within the department. These were my top 2 schools and I'm quite sure I am not in. Well, I guess I have to deal with it . Congrats to those who have got in! They seem like such good places to be in (Their Poetics Program is to die for! ).
