  1. I'm so confused by this, I too e-mailed him today (early this morning) and have yet to get a response. This is beyond frustrating, its almost April!
  2. I also emailed and had a quick response from someone (i'm awful with names) and was told that applications were still under review and my e-mail would be passed on.
  3. The e-mail confirming they'd received my application (as well as the English website) says they will be making decisions by March 19th and we should know after that via postal service though if you need the decision sooner to call the department to inquire.
  4. Yep, I'm a current senior who no longer wishes to be a current senior. Looks like I'll be getting my MLS starting in August.
  5. Nothing about Columbia but I currently live in NYC (Brooklyn which, no, is not scary as many would have you believe) and it is entirely, entirely possible to live alone on 23, 000 a year. I would not say that it is an easy task but definitley doable ecspecially around the Columbia area/Harlem.
  6. Columbia and UVA are killing me, slowly. I highly, highly doubt I've been accepted (or waitlisted, really) but I'd just like to know that I was rejected. Sigh.
  7. still no word. this is annoying.
  8. I also haven't heard anything. It will be a cold day in Hell if I'm accepted so maybe its alphabetical? Doesn't seem to make sense for rejections but who knows?
  9. I sent it in mid-November and got my acceptance early February. A friend of a friend who attends Pratt says the library school secretary is ridiculous and very disorganized which would explain why, when I called early Jan. she told me I should hear within a week. Its rolling though so the later you apply, the later you hear back. I hope you hear soon though!
  10. I wish you the best of luck MityaK and hope you get in somewhere! But, I'm really glad to hear someone is in the same boat as me. I've been lucky enough to have applied to a "backup" program for an MLS which I've been accepted to with a bit of a scholarship. I've actually been rethinking the English Phd route and am so grateful that I had a crazy day where I decided to apply to the MLS program. I think, regardless of what I decide to do, having the MLS will give me a marketable set of skills in a way that an English Phd cannot. I am not by any means saying that an English Phd does not produce incredible scholars with incredible skills, just that I'm not sure how marketable they are outside of the academic world. Anyway, if I decide to eventually reapply (assuming I will be rejected this round which I'm fully anticipating) my work is going to be on the writing sample. Sigh, this was a bit of a ramble!
  11. I did an Honors Thesis and I'm pretty sure thats standard among Grad. school applicants, particularly in the Humanities. I wish it had been polished enough to use as my writing sample because I'm pretty sure thats why I'm striking out this round. Oh well!
  12. I'm thinking of Archive and Record Management. I'm really new to the MLS thing though and am hoping that, if I end up going this route instead of the English PhD, that Pratt will help out with my undecidedness. I hope you hear soon!
  13. I applied to Pratt in November (early, I know) and heard from them this past weekend. Good luck with your applications.
  14. any acceptance is nice, even though it may be my last choice. hooray

  15. Hi all, I've just gotten my acceptance to Pratt with a bit of a scholarship. I'm mostly an English MA/PhD applicant but, as those applications seem to be receiving less favorable responses, I'm interested in taking the MLS then possible PhD route. I'm interested in archival research and the like but in all honesty, I know very little about what that entails. Can anyone out there shed some light? Anyone from Pratt? Thanks!
