  1. True, thanks! Is there anyone who has currently been accepted to Alberta that would decline (or is currently planning to decline) if accepted somewhere else?? Holding on for any hope haha. Good luck to everybody waiting to hear as well! I'm also really wondering about Dalhousie. I have a feeling the first acceptances may be within the affirmative action plan because they normally hear first. Other than that I'm dying to know when they will release the rest of the acceptances! It seems like not too many people have been accepted? Does anyone know when they sent them out last year?
  2. Thanks everybody! But don't give up hope about Alberta yet! Even though they worded it that way in my email I honestly have a feeling that not all of the acceptances have gone out yet. Multiple people have said that they received their acceptances after being in contact with them earlier that day which is kind of what happened to me (minus the acceptance hahah). I'm starting to think they just contacted me about the wait-list because I emailed them earlier in the day. And maybe the wording of the email is just a default message for all wait-listers. But I really don't know. It just seems that way because no one else has posted about an acceptance yet today which seems weird to me.
  3. Thank you!! Has anyone else heard from Alberta today? I emailed them asking a question this morning and they responded shortly after. And now, like 6 hours later I get an email saying I'm wait listed. Find it weird that no one else has posted here yet about hearing from Alberta today! Also, judging by the email she sent me it sounds like all of the acceptances have gone out now?
  4. I got on the wait list for Alberta! Does anyone know if it's common for people to get in off the waitlist?? I feel like because I'm finding out early it could be a good sign that I'm near the top of the list. "The department has sent out offer letters to 56 students. These students have until April 7 to make their decision. In the meantime, you have been put on our waiting list. It can take until the end of April early May to fill our quota or longer. At this time, please refrain from contacting the office for more information on the status of your application. Your application is very strong, so if you do get accepted to another university, please let us know so we can update our list accordingly. Your letter is attached. Thank you. Vicki"
  5. I also received the rejection notification today from McGill. Pretty disappointed but not overly surprised. Starting to feel pretty discouraged about the other schools now Has anyone else heard from Dalhousie or Alberta today? And does anyone know what the average GPAs were last year of the people that were accepted to those programs? Thanks and congrats to everyone who has received acceptances!
  6. I feel the exact same way. I'm making myself sick thinking and worrying about it! Now that I know Dalhousie acceptances are on their way I'm even more stressed. Good luck everybody!
  7. Hi! I assume you're talking about McGill? Congratulations!! Would you be willing to private message me your stats? Just wondering if my stats are comparable and if I stand a chance haha. Thanks!
  8. Oh wow, this wait is painful! I am really really hoping we start to hear by tomorrow. From the sounds of it, McGill and Dalhousie may be updating people soon! : | Does anyone know the average subGPA for people who have been accepted at McGill in previous years? Not yet hearing from Alberta is killing me because it's the school I feel like I have the best shot at. Knowing that some acceptances have already gone out makes it that much harder to wait!
  9. Dear god, another thing to wait on and make me anxious hahaha. I don't know if I can take all of this waiting! Does anyone know if Dal also does more than one round of acceptances? Also if anyone is interested, someone from the department at dal came to my school for a presentation on SLP and AUD and he said that they accept a total of 24 SLPs and 12 AUDs. With a combined total of 21 people accepted from provinces outside of Nova Scotia. So 21/36 acceptances come from out of province, but they could be for SLP or AUD. It's always good to know the stats! Good luck everybody!
  10. I'm not sure about what they told wuglife, but my general understanding is that they usually do more than one round of acceptances. So I think some more people will hear before April 7th. Especially because they know the majority of acceptances come out April 1st, and that people need time to decide which school they want to attend. I think the April 7th date is when they start accepting people off of the waitlist if anyone turns down an acceptance. That's what I assume anyway! If anyone gets clarification about this from Alberta please let us know! Does anyone know when Dalhousie normally starts sending out acceptances? And if they send it by email or mail?
  11. My hopes for McGill are also not high. I'm mostly still holding out for the second round of acceptances from Alberta! Is anyone else dying of anxiety?? I keep checking this thread and my email way too often.
  12. Also, I just asked my friend who is currently in her first year at Alberta how many people are in her class and she said 56! So 56/200+ isn't too bad! I thought it would be a smaller class.
  13. Has anyone already set up their online account for western and/or toronto? I haven't received an email about it or anything but I'm pretty sure that's what I'm supposed to do to check the status of my application.
  14. Sorry hear about that. Don't let it bring you down though! For anyone having a heart attack right now about Alberta... I just asked my friend who was accepted last year and she said that she heard of people being accepted a week before she received her acceptance! (She was also panicking thinking she didn't make the cut considering days had gone by and no word). She had a really high GPA and was definitely a competitive applitcant too. So we may still have a chance in a week or so!
  15. I would assume the people who are wait listed will find out before April 7th. In past years (if I remember correctly) it seems like everyone knows whether they have been accepted, rejected, or wait listed by April 1st.
  16. Would you mind PMing them to me too? Congratulations to everyone who has been accepted!! Did you guys receive emails or physical letters?
  17. Does anyone have a quick breakdown of the tuition fees for any of the programs?
  18. They emailed me after the deadline and said they hadn't received my GRE scores even though I also sent them in December. They let me send them again and said it was no problem. They also told me in a separate email that they accept missing documents after the deadline. I wouldn't worry!
  19. A professor from Dalhousie visited my university to give a talk for people interested in applying for SLP and audiology and he said that any research experience is going to help your application. So as long as your honours degree involved some research is will be a good thing! But I definitely don't think it's crucial. I know people who were accepted with just a regular BA (but they did have really high GPAs).
  20. Yeah they seem to do an early round of acceptances around mid March. I know two people that got accepted around that time (from Alberta, Dalhousie, and Western). They were both either extremely competitive or a part of the affirmative action policy. So yeah, I think some people get accepted early! And they weren't expecting a response until April 1st either. The one thing that gives me hope is that applicants who are extremely competitive normally get acceptances from more than one school. So, once they turn the other schools down, it opens up spots for other people!
  21. Last year my friend received an acceptance from Alberta and Western around March 17th! Meaning if we're accepted, we may find out before April. The anticipation is killing me!!!
  22. Yeah, that's true. It may also be because it shows your GPA progression over time. So if you're GPA steadily increases over the 4+ years its a good thing. Maybe?
  23. My subGPA is what I expected it to be, thankfully. Does anyone know why they calculate your cumulative GPA? I thought they only really cared about your subGPA? my cumulative GPA is so much lower
  24. I received confirmation from Dalhousie only because my GRE scores were missing and once they finally received them they said my application was complete. But my online checklist still hasn't been updated! Is ORPAS the only one that lets you see your calculated GPA?
  25. I mailed mine Dec 29th. Maybe they are going through the applications alphabetically to make sure everyone has everything sent in? I wouldn't worry too much about it. They said they would contact anyone if they were missing documents to give them a chance to resubmit. And considering the fact that they definitely looked at my application and saw that my GRE scores were missing and still have not updated my online checklist shows that they just aren't updating the checklists. I really don't wanna wait until April to find out!
