Has anybody had any success in emailing schools asking them for advice on improving your applications? I've been working up the courage to ask haha. I just want to know if they will generally give worthwhile advice or if they give a generic answer/ say they can't comment, etc.

I received an email from the U of A last week telling me that their quota had been filled for the year. Perhaps they sent those of you who haven't heard yet a physical letter?

Yep mine says that too! I really wonder when they will contact us with any news. I assume I've been rejected as well but why wait so long to let us know?

Thanks! Might I ask how many hours you had with an SLP/volunteering before and after? I already have quite a few and am just wondering what kind of number makes a difference.

Yup I'm feeling the same way too! Although admittedly I am still feeling pretty disappointed. Already starting to think of areas I can work on (I have a feeling that there was one thing in particular that ruled me out), but I think first things first I need to talk to the schools to see if they will provide any feedback on my application. I would also appreciate any advice!

I got a rejection letter in the mail from Dalhousie today. If you're still waiting to hear from them I would expect something soon.

Well I just ran into one of my referees and our conversation left me less than certain that she wrote me the strong letter she said she would :/ Sigh...

Congrats guys! I really really hope though that this doesn't mean bad news for me from Dal. They're my top choice!

Does anyone know when the U of A sent out their rejections last year? This is pretty discouraging

I know that Dal has a certain number of seats reserved for students from the Atlantic provinces. Is it possible that they contact those students first, and then the other students later? I have pretty much given up all hope for the U of A by now. Keeping my fingers crossed for Western and Dal still. I have a strong feeling I won't have gotten into U of T, but I guess it's too soon to give up on them either.

I've considered it but I think I'm going to wait until I have all my final decisions from schools to decide what step to take next. I'm hesitant because I don't see a lot of jobs posted for them (but there are lots of jobs for OT and PT assistants it seems), plus I think they only really exist in a few provinces (Alberta and Ontario?). For what it's worth though, I know somebody who went through the program at Grant Mac and spoke very highly of it! She said most of her classmates were people who were rejected from speech, or were using the program as a ways of boosting their speech application.

Congrats to everyone who has gotten in so far! I guess if we don't hear from uAlberta soon about the wait list it's safe to say we've been rejected? I am starting to lose a lot of hope. This is my first year applying and my GPA isn't as high as many others here so I've been bracing for across the board rejection (I have a lot of experience though, hoping that means something). Still keeping my fingers crossed that no news is good news, but man is this ever stressful.

Is anybody able to tell me how they calculate the overall GPA? Mine is not where I expected it to be, although the subGPA is fine. It looks like they didn't use a few semesters at all? I don't get this at all! Also did anyone get that U of T email about housing? I had a minor freak out when I saw that until I realized that they probably sent it to everyone haha.

My GRE was sent in October when I wrote the exam. Everything else was sent mid December.

Mine has not been updated at all but I received an email from them saying that they had received all of my materials.

For those wondering about the U of A, I emailed them and received an automated response saying that if you are missing any documents they will contact you directly. So I guess if they haven't said anything then it's safe to assume everything is in order?
