Emailed one of my POIs a very polite email asking whether she's finished sending out interview invites. I'm pretty sure all the department invites have gone out by looking at the results page. She hasn't emailed back in 2 days but has time to go on twitter! I just think its just a joke that we pay all this money to be treated like crap! Sorry to vent but it wouldn't take much to just send a quick email saying that she has and that's it. Urgh

I was wondering whether I could pick your brains a little being an international student, albeit a little different to my situation but international nonetheless. Did you find out about interviews at relatively the same time as other candidates? Or were you not aware of this site when you were applying? Just curious to know whether international students are considered separately

I really don't know about this. I'm applying for the social track in Yale but have had the same experience. I took it to mean that either my POI hadn't got round to it, or that they just hadn't bothered sending specific rejection notices and would just let the genetic ones around march do. You're explanation is equally as plausible though! I guess we won't know until we know. I'm taking no news as good news at the moment, despite how foolish that may be haha!

Any international applicants in the process at the moment? Or any international applicants been through this process before? How has the experience been different? Have things taken longer to go through? Any differences with interviews, as I take it most international students unless from Canada, will not be able to make it?

Thanks for your reply Munashi! Just curious, any international students out there who have done this before? Was the phone interview done? I was thinking it would seem pretty weird to hold two phone interviews or like a phone and a Skype one. Unlike the American students who will attend weekends, we won't be able to. Just wondering whether they would then favour one skype interview instead?

Furthermore, if anyone would like to share their experience about their phone interview (not specifics but loosely) then please do. I have a few questions: how did the phone interview come about? Did they ring you out of the blue? or did they set it up for a few days later? How long did it last? Sorry guys, panicky international student here! Just don't want to miss out due to time difference etc

I'm panicking! I saw a tweet about one of my favourite POIs where they spoke about already phone interviewing prospective grad students. Are phone interviews a definite thing to progress to the next stage of interviews? Or can you be offered an interview without having a phone interview, but others did? I hope my question is clear...

I've applied to the same program and haven't heard anything yet either, if that puts your mind at rest. I did see someone on the results page posting that they had a phone interview though. Don't know if you saw that? Apparently invites are being sent out next week!

Brilliant, thanks so much for your help! Its so nerve wracking! I'm trying to steer clear of the results page as its freaking me out! Do you know if the phone interview stage can be POI specific too? I saw a few from Universities which I applied to but it obviously doesn't say which POI, etc. Gah! The results page! Its a blessing and a curse

Hey everyone, I have a few questions which I was wondering if anyone could try and clear up for me? 1. Does everyone have a phone interview before proceeding to official interviews? Or, is this only used to kind of clear up information from the statement of purposes? Should you be worried if you haven't had one? 2. Do departments tend to send out invitations on mass at the same time or day? Or do individual POIs send out invites whenever they are ready? I guess there would be a deadline but before the deadline can they come in dribs and drabs? Thanks everyone!

Hi everyone! Just thought I would introduce myself. My name is Aiden, and I'm from Bristol in the UK. I'm applying for social psych programs this year too. I've actually sent off my applications to four and am about to send off my last one. Thought I would try and get them early as I gather there is potentially more paperwork and bureacracy for international students. I'm also applying to some courses in the UK. My interests lie in more social-political psychology and specifically ideologies and belief systems. I've found some good people that I would love to work with and have done the whole 'Hey this is who I am and I'll be sending some stuff in'. Has anyone had a kind of tactic where they've spread their applications across the whole ranking system? I've tried to take some from each tier (this was still a lot of guesswork on my part as I'm unfamiliar with the US system). I am trying to figure out how to do that cool thing at the bottom where it tells everyone where and what I'm applying to. Good luck everyone!
