I heard a lot of good things about Ohio University's "Calculus One" on Coursera.

Just got rejected. I am not surprised since my cGPA is only -A with no working experience.

If what you say is true, then my chances aren't looking too good. Are you an international applicant by any chance?

Honestly, don't worry about what your status says. I have been accepted to another program at UofT three weeks ago and my status still says "under review".

Solid advice. I just started calculus one on Coursera, and it is very good!

I spent the entirety of my undergrad studying political theory, but now I want to study more substantive areas like international relations and political economy. I know it is going to be a tough transition so I was wondering if there is any standard approach to preparing for the inevitable quantitative research. I have been reading from The American Political Science Review, completed a social statistics course, and I am slowly honing my quant skills with Khan Academy; what else can I do to break my undergrad cherry?

Got into a masters program in a T20; what kinds of things can I do beforehand in order to set myself up for success?

I emailed them and they told me that the first round of offers has been sent out but that they will continue admitting new people until the end of April.

I was wondering the same thing. Applied to three different programs (MPP, MGA, MA in poli sci) and got waitlisted in all of them.

Are these responses really necessary? His comment might be a little distasteful but I am sure he didn't mean any harm by it. Consider that he is an international student so there might be a cultural gap, or maybe he is just trying to develop solidarity with the guys. Either way, those responses come off as mean-spirited. .
