Hi, Parent! I'm a speech pathologist who lives very close to Fresno State.. Stumbled on this site looking up something for Speech Pathology. The "Hoover" area, as referenced in another post, is where I live and it's fine. There are buses but lots of student housing around, either apartments across from the school (Shaw Ave.), dorms on campus or within about a mile all around the school. I don't know the local apartment rental rates, but Fresno itself is relatively reasonable compared to other California cities. I'd suggest living close to the school, so you can walk, rather than Woodward Park, which is lovely, but you'd want a car in that case. Look at google maps, around Fresno State, and you'll see lots of student housing marked. The only apartments I'd avoid are tucked in near Bulldog Lane (El Dorodo Park), but they are not student apartments. The Sorority and Fraternity houses are near there, too. My son is a student at Fresno State as well. He spends a lot of time in the library studying.
