Just saw the result post to which viget was referring...no division mentioned, but really good stats! Congrats to that individual!
-
I think it said PhD/Ed Policy; is that what you mean by division? I saw one other posting today: PhD/Linguistics, but I am not sure if that program is housed in the school of ed. Typically, GSE Admissions blog posts something confirming that all invitations have gone out, so I have been checking the admissions blog pretty regularly, as well. So far, I haven't seen such a post, so I'm still holding out a little hope.

Welcome! I think we are all waiting with baited breath. My guess is that PhD invites go out the third week of January (plus/minus several days/a week), and EdD invites go out a week or two after that. I have nothing empirical to back up this estimation; I'm only basing it on past Penn GSE Admissions blog entries. I'm hoping someone who is a part of this thread will get some good news; everyone seems so deserving! Good luck!
-
I'm so sorry. Hopefully the invites are staggered. Have my fingers crossed for you.
-
Thanks for the additional info! If you happen to know, was the invite made by email, or did your friend have to log in to the app system to find out? Although I've checked both, I'm still holding out some hope that EdD invites will come a week or two later. Congrats to your friend!

*spurt--super (Must. Stop. Using. Phone.)

I TOTALLY understand. I am the same as you: I get thing done early and sit and stare at the calendar! I think your preparedness is going to pay off. That doesn't make it any easier in the meantime, though! I think invitations for EdD will go out a week or two after PhD, so I'm thinking end-of-the month before I hear anything. I'm spurt happy for the poster who got his/her invite--looked to have stellar credentials. Mine are not nearly as strong, but nothing ventured, nothing gained. I've gotten in to one program already, so I can only be grateful at this point.
-
I just saw that, too! I don't think all invitations go out at the same time, so don't get discouraged yet.

*In other words

I'm so sorry! I know it's disappointing, but I bet it will be worth the wait (ie, good news when it comes). Even though I submitted my app in late September, I knew it would be months before I heard (because it's a doctoral program); I know you, on the other hand, have been expecting an answer for several weeks now. If it's any consolation, I haven't seen any Penn GSE results on the results page, so I think they probably haven't made any decisions yet. On other words, perhaps no news is good news! Hang in there!
-
I have been religiously watching the results page for ANY education results (it seems that few of the results have been from schools of ed, thus far). Anyway, I just saw one posted for Peabody (invitation to interview weekend). I didn't apply to Peabody, but I thought this info might be of interest to those following this topic. Best of luck to all of you!

Thanks SO MUCH for the additional info! Maybe that means EdD invitiations will be the week after that. Fingers crossed!

It blows my mind how areas of study there are at Penn GSE. I'm not sure any one of us has applied for the same program! I noticed on the admissions blog that last year invitations for Phd/EdD weekends were sent during the last week of January; the number of times I am checking my email and the app system has probably become a touch unhealthy considering we probably have at least two more weeks! As a general matter, does anyone know whether decisions are emailed or we have to check the application system?
-
It's so funny that you mention the other programs: Every time I see UPenn, my heart leaps a bit; then I realize it's another program. I take it you still haven't heard?
-
Oh my gosh, that is fantastic! The more I hear, the more I think you will make the list. I have been watching the "results" page on this site, and I haven't seen any Penn GSE entries, master's or doctorate. It makes me think that few (if any) admissions/interview decisions have been made at this point. I think my chances are pretty slim, but I haven't lost hope!

Quick modification to my post above...I have posted the 2014 rankings; however, I think there is a more recent version. The reason I say this is because on the overall ranking, Penn is listed as #7...but I am pretty sure that in the most recent US News rankings, Penn moved up to #5.

HEPhD13-- I have the 2013 version of the magazine on my iPad (I thought I had 2014, as well, but I can't seem to find it). In the version I have, there is an overall ranking of education programs (111 are ranked), and then there is a "top ten" (or so) by specialty. It doesn't get more specific than that. In case you're interested, though, here is 2013's Top Eleven for Higher Ed Administration (which is the specialty of interest to you): 1. Michigan (Ann Arbor) 2. Michigan State 3. UCLA 4. Penn State (University Park) 5. Vanderbilt 6. UGA 6. Penn 6. USC 9. Indiana (Bloomington) 10. Harvard 11. Maryland (College Park) If I can find the 2014, I will post again. In the meantime, hope this helps!

I bet you will hear by the end of the month (if not sooner). By then, your six weeks will have run, even by the most conservative measure (i.e., taking into account the holiday break, etc.). Hang in there!

I'm not a student (and never have been a student) at Penn. That's amazing that you were a Fulbright scholar at Penn! What did you study? I take it you enjoyed studying at Penn and living in Philadelphia? I imagine they will be very impressed with your application, as qualifying as a Fulbright scholar is exceptionally competitive. I'm sure we'll be hearing good news from you soon! Best of luck!

Hi, all! Just trying to keep the conversation going...just wondering if anyone has heard anything? I suspect it's too early, but I'd love to hear some good news (even if it's not me who is sharing it!). Fingers crossed for everyone who has contributed to this discussion--I've appreciated all the information and updates--best of luck to all of you!
-
Everyone-- Thanks for all the information. I had no idea that the deadline had been extended. It's nice to have a "network" of people here who are willing to share updates regarding the admissions process. For those of you who are applying to an EdD and/or PhD program at Penn, I noticed that the interview weekends are officially on the Penn GSE calendar. PhD weekend is Feb 6, and EdD weekend is Feb 20. I suspect--based on that info--applicants will start receiving invitations in the next three or four weeks. Good luck, everyone!

Do NOT feel discouraged! Although you submitted your application in November, it was not deemed "complete" by Penn until December 1; therefore, I am guessing December 1 was when your 4-6 week waiting period started counting down (which is not quite four weeks, yet). In addition, with the doctorate deadline being December 1, I am sure GSE was exceptionally busy at the beginning of the month...then throw in the holidays...eek. So nothing to be discouraged about, in my (albeit unqualified!) opinion. Hang in there!!!

UVA, UNC, and Washington Good luck, everyone.
