Not sure of you stats but USA has a medical school and a lot of CSD grad students do their practicum at the med school or a hospital. One of my sponsors recommend this school for the medical of SLP.
P.S. USA is less competitive then some of the schools

Has anyone else seen the certification CCC-A or information I know it has something to do with audiology. Does that mean certfided in both fields, help me out here it sounds interesting honestly

Any California schools have spring admissions, I know of one only and thats Fresno and their application is due next month

This actually happens a lot I wish I would have know the importance of contacting and getting to know the department before applying to graduate school instead of just applying

Ranking from a website means nothing and jobs aren't looking to see if your school is ranked higher or lower than big name schools. A lot of schools get their ranking based off funding,research and other factors. Also a lot of higher rank school have bigger class sizes 60+ which can be a bad thing especially since you want to feel connected with your professors and actually want them to know you as a person. If a school is accredited under ASHA i definitely would not shoot them down.

I received a voicemail message from the person over graduate admissions, she stated "The committee is in their final stages of making their decision and you will receive an email next Monday to the email address that was provided on your application; from there you will log in to the portal to view your full admissions letter." I know it may sound crazy but that I'm asking this but I can't get in contact with her to make sure because their officers are closed. Is this an acceptance I just have to know?

You should try a local community college it's probably easier and cheaper

Has anyone worked as a SLPA while in grad school. If so, were you able to handle both work and grad school? I think its great idea to cover expenses for grad school but Im scared the work load and stress would be too much.

Hey Nina, I'm in the same boat I started working as a SLPA and I enjoy it the salary range for the job is $40-50k and if you are in California(assuming based where you applied for grad school), you should have no problem finding a SLPA job did you try searching online for jobs I see most of the SLPA jobs are in CA. Also, I wouldnt do a SLPA program or course since it's not needed and it cost more money. I see in CA all you need is a degree in CSD, fingerprint, and 70 hours of field work experience. If you don't have the hours I would reach out to SLPs in your local area to get hours and most are willingly to help and 70 hours can be done in less than 4 weeks. I hope this helps also try to revamp your resume and begin emailing directors to see if they have any positions available.

I wondered the same thing, I know some people posted in other posts who got accepted and decided not to go with Jacksonville because they really didn't know much about it. Also they only accept 20 people the first round and 10 the next and the people that are waitlisted from the first time goes into the 2nd round of applicants.

I applied for the March 1st deadline and I heard back March 13 that I was on the waitlist. They will send out final decision June 15th but I was told it could be earlier (around June 1st)

IMO I think the program started off less competitive and I think it got competitive this year and will continue to become competitive. JU is a new program so people are skeptical of new programs because of accreditation also you have to pay $500 to hold your seat in the grad program and you have to pay it in 2 weeks. I was told that the director does not look at GRE/GPA but I'm not really sure how true that it. I hope this helps. P.S. decisions will be sent out June 1 not June 15th.

I don't think Jacksonville University has an online program. Are you applying for your masters or for undergrad? Nova SouthEastern has an online program with a site in Jacksonville Fl.

Jacksonville sent me a message today I was not accepted in the early admissions but I was put on the waitlist for regular admissions and I opted to stay on the waitlist.

Does anyone know of any supportive and welcoming grad programs that actually care about the students and clinicians. My undergrad program was the exact opposite (
:o yea I know it happens) and I really would like to be around something better for graduate school.

Thanks for the reply but I really don't think your last comment was necessary, assuming that I didn't google or try to find info about my topic before I chose to write in this forum. Since the forum is full of useful information I thought it would be great to ask fellow students or aspiring students. I asked this because I was under the impression that audiologist received Au.D not CCC-A. The basis behind my question was due to the fact that I ran across a Masters SLP program that offers CCC-A something I had never seen before. If you really wanted to be helpful you can do so without being condescending or just simply don't reply.
