Just found out i've been wait listed at UCONN
Rejected at LSU (they never got my transcript- how can an undergrad institution screw up so bad?)
Accepted at Roosevelt University in Chicago
Havent heard from:
Ohio University
George Washington
Clemson
Harvard
NC State
UNC Charlotte
Old Dominion
Akron
Looks like i'm a real bubble candidate.
OU said they would have all letters out by the end of February... bad news i haven't heard anything yet? Anyone else hear from any of those schools? Or want to decline an offer at UCONN for that matter
Old Dominion's I/O interview day was the 26th of February.

I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the social area's first round of acceptances have already gone out. Recruitment is the first weekend in March. No idea about wait list information though. Best of luck to all of you.
Luckily I didn't apply to any of the programs in this thread. I wonder what the switch from 'in eval' to 'acad review' means though, and why the OP's hasn't switched over (and why my has). oh well, got a bunch of interviews lined up anyways

Haven't heard anything either. But my application switched from "in evaluation" to "academic review" about a month ago. Who knows.

I think people generally appreciate honesty, but in your delivery you come of as a pretentious jackass.
You may not a be a jackass, but you also don't know if this person i) lazy, or ii) just doesn't have what it takes. As for the money argument, for all you know he could be rolling in the dough.
On a personal note, I know a lot of people that were given the "straight talk," as you say, and ended up settling for less than they should have in life.
He's not trying to be a jerk, he's trying to be realistic. It's one thing to shoot for your dreams, it's another thing to chase an unreasonable goal and assume everything will be fine. Nothing pretentious about it.

I'd be worried about the kind of student applying to grad school who looks down their nose at anyone with a lower GRE/GPA. Probably the kind of student I wouldn't want in my cohort. Just saying.
And coincidentally, the kind of student that's most likely to be in your cohort.

Being overworked and underpaid for the best years of your life just because the department you're a member of has chosen to use you as slave labor instead of hiring more professors/post-docs isn't enough?
