Did the graduate school ask you to put in your enrollment deposit and stuff? I have not been asked to do anything at all so am wondering a bit.
-
I am going for my PhD..Are you from the area?
-
Cool man, Are you going for your PhD?
-
@ pasteltomato Thanks for your reply, I do love blackberries! lol From your description and my research online Corvallis looks like an awesome place to attend graduate school. I am looking forward to it @jbrown71160 Thanks for your reply, I used to have to go to NYC which cud sometime take upwards of 2 hrs (rush hour) so 20 mins sounds like a breeze. That being said however, for a PhD program I would imagine having a place very close (walking distance) could be vital as you would probably get in and out of lab continuously over the course of the day. For ex: squeezing a gym session during the day or letting an experiment run for like half an hour. I would thus want to get something in Corvallis itself. How much would you say a small studio would cost on average in Corvallis?

Who else is attending OSU this fall? I am in the Robotics program
-
Multiple I-20's is not a good thing for your status..Tell the office of enrollment not to ensue a I-20 yet
-
Any inside scoop on Corvallis in terms of cost of living, nightlife and safety?
-
Just wanted to see how often do Robotics programs accept students in their PhD programs without funding?
-
Exact situation as me man! New acceptance don't even make me that happy anymore, I really need the aid!
-
I know this thread is a bit old but could you update on your story?
-
Admitted to OSU but nothing about funding!!

Same situation and my POI mentioned in the SOP also contacted me..what is the best way to respond? -
It is resolute..I do not intend to change my course based on whether I can get into a PhD program in this area now..If I do not get in now, I am simply going to look for internships and job to gain more experience in this field and apply again at a future date
-
I actually almost applied there, I send my GRE scores and all my applications materials were ready including my essay and (that ridiculous re-reinstatement of all the courses taken that Harvard makes u do) but then in the last minute I dropped the application quite painfully and dramatically..I looked at some data from fellow applicants and basically realized I did not stand a chance and also additionally did not deserve it at this time of my career..I was sad at first but at least I stopped wishful thinking and came back to reality.. Their bio-robotics program lead by Dr. Wood actually mirrors my research interest perfectly but honestly I do not deserve to go there yet
-
Thanks, I have already completed 6 and will end up with around 12 applications at the end of the month..The cost is substantial but it is nothing compared to what I stand to gain..Do you recommend any programs?
-
That's the realization I am slowly coming to..I don't have the financial resources to pay for one so I will try my luck in finding a job for a year or so before applying again if I fail in all my PhD application this year

I was wondering whether someone with a Physics UG could apply with a reasonable chance of admission to Robotics Graduate schools (Control System specialization) which are generally in the Mech E or ECE department. Personally here are my stats: 3.96 GPA from a small LAC GRE: 167Q 160V 4.5A 1 paper published and 2 Posters unrelated to Control Systems Strong LOR, small LAC college tons of interaction with professors My decision to pursue Control systems and Automation is resolute and I am just trying to see if I can go to grad school next fall or I have to get some experience and attend in a future date. Thanks in advance!

Just wanted to see if the switch was possible and probable?
-
I am not sure improving from what you already have is going to massively improve your application..The cost of retaking it both in terms of money and time might be better put into other components of your application; especially considering the application deadlines for most are fast approaching
