Question for everyone:
How are you guys handling missing classes and work due to campus visits and traveling? I have four campus visits scheduled for this semester so far and, as a result, I'm going to be missing mandatory labs, exams, quizzes, etc., which really stresses me out. Obviously, arrangements can be made with professors, but I feel burdensome when every other week I would be asking for some sort of extension, exemption, or rescheduling. I also just feel bad that I'm missing so much class and am afraid I'll fall behind in some of the material. What do you guys think, especially those who have tons of interviews scheduled? Have most of your professors been receptive or not very accommodating? Is this what the last semester of undergrad is supposed to be like - a logistical nightmare? Should I even care this much at this point haha? I'd appreciate whatever feedback you guys can give! Thanks!
One of my professors won't let me makeup an exam Im missing so I will automatically fail it. At first I was frustrated, but this is a huge decision we are all making and I decided I'm not going to let a stubborn professor get in the way of finding my perfect fit. If I get a C in the class so be it! Like anyone can blame us for not having perfect grades after being gone 2 months straight...!

Btw, is anyone here going to the interview for Columbia during feb 26-28? Just curious
I think I have decided not to attend- I saw on results page someone posted BU open house was February 26-28 but my letter said more official info about open house was coming later. Did anyone else here it was 2/26-2/28?

Just got my acceptance from BU! Apparently it really isn't too late to be hearing...!

What are positives/negatives people have heard about Columbia BME and Univ. Washington BioE? Don't know much about the programs and I'm not sure if I'd be a good fit!

Dubblebubble898- it was not a professor, a graduate coordinator or something who was also out on medical leave so that could be delaying things. I tried to get in contact with a few PIs but they said the admissions process was out of their control

Dubblebubble898- I got a personal email (not mass email) from UCSD department so more could definitely be on their way! I just got it on Monday so it hasn't been that long! Good luck!

I'm from Virginia too and go to Berkeley for undergrad currently. Hearing from bioe grad students here, if u get invite u basically will get in unless u totally bomb the interview by showing that you're rude or mean or something, so congrats! They only interview ones they expect to admit so u r pretty close!
Thanks for the info! Great to know!

A word of advice!
Unless you are strongly considering JHU, I recommend not taking the interview. The travel agency was a huge hassle, the weekend was largely unorganized, and it has been 4 months and I have not been reimbursed and the person responsible for reimbursements will not respond to emails/phone calls. If you are genuinely interested in the program, of course go check it out but I was on the fence and regret going especially now that I am still waiting on 500$ of reimbursements and it doesn't seem to be coming my way anytime soon.
