I was just recently recommended for admission to the Center for Neural Science at NYU for a PhD. I'm really excited-- awesome faculty, looks like it's really well funded, great location. Haven't heard details yet, but they're soon to come.
The problem is that I wasn't able to make it to the Open House that they held back in February due to that crazy blizzard that was tearing up the northeast at the time. I had a Skype interview, though, and I enjoyed talking to the faculty members.
So my questions are for those of you who WERE able to go to the open house...or those of you who have some general ideas about the NYU CNS program. What are your thoughts? Is it a very cut-throat kind of place, or more of a friendly atmosphere? Did the grad students seem happy? What kind of students come out of the program?
My other options so far are Emory (Neuroscience and Animal Behavior) or a post-bacc. Thoughts?
