  1. I'm pretty sure Rockefeller makes announcements after Stanford (~Jan 8th) and from the results page their interview weekends should be either Feb 26th or Mar4th. Also, I'm not sure if they do more than one wave of interview invites, but I personally know that people have gotten invites from Princeton Bio, Harvard MCO (interview dates ~Jan28 or Feb 4th) and Harvard SysBio (interview dates: Jan23rd or Jan 30th) already. Hope that helps!

My friend who is an international student from India got an interview from Harvard BBS already. Someone said they called the office and they said they were done sending invites. I don't mean to be a downer, but I would not keep my hopes up. Regardless, good luck.
  3. Both MIT Bio and Stanford have their graduate admissions meeting in January. They send email invites around Jan 8th, so I wouldn't worry until then.
  4. I haven't met Gibson, but if you have computational experience I've heard good things about Tenenbaum. I put down Li-Huei Tsai, Weifeng Xu and Yingxi Lin as my POIs. They are all very nice people. Anyways, see you there
  5. Who are your POIs? I know Laura Schulz is a sweetheart, have met a couple of others too...
  6. I'm in molecular, but I think they all interview the same weekend. They told me it'll be from Feb 26-27, but would send me specifics later. I know the last night they throw this party, and from what I hear faculty get turnt up. It's at a grad student's house. It'll be so much fun!
  7. Interview at MIT BCS!!!!! I don't think I'll ever be this happy again in my life, but that's ok

  9. I've heard they usually give you a few activities to choose from. For Utah, my friend was offered to either go hiking or skiing for example. Other places might offer you to go to a brewery or go explore the city, this I know MIT Bio did last year. So you really should not worry about this. Also, you don't have to be amazing at any of these activities, the point is to do something fun with the students/faculty so you get to know them in a more casual setting.
  10. Um, that's not true....I've met many post-docs in the labs I've worked in, and the one thing they all share in common is that they published good papers as grad students (first author in cell, science, nature or the like), at least one. Also, it doesn't matter where you do a post-doc or phd but doing it in a place with more resources/funding (usually, but not always, ivy schools) definitely helps push projects forward, which makes it easier to do more experiments and controls, which makes it easier to publish good papers, which makes it easier to get a post-doc position that ultimately makes it easier to get an academic/industry position
  11. yeah those are the weekends. the email i got said the only thing you do the first day is have dinner with current students and then the last day a student takes you to the airport
  12. I haven't heard from them either, and I was actually really pleased with my SOP for UCSD, so I'm a little bumped. I looked at last year's results and some people got interviews really late, like January. Maybe there's still hope?
  13. They have 2 options, Feb 1-3 & March 1-3. I think I'm gonna go for the second one. Congrats on your interviews!
  14. One of my POIs (!!!!!) called at 3:30 pm (PT). I missed it though, she left me a voicemail.
  15. I think they might send more offers. Maybe even this weekend. My email came at noon (pacific time).
  16. The second weekend is Feb 4- Feb 7, that's the one I got invited for. My friend told me the other one is around Jan 28, but she doesn't know the specifics.
  17. OMG!! Received invitations from Harvard MCO, Harvard BBS, Berkeley MCB and UCI CMB today!! Somebody pinch me!!!!
  18. I got an interview invitation for UCSF Tetrad last night! Soooooooooooooo excited!!!!!!!!!!!!
  19. I got an interview invite from UCLA today (email) !!!!! I applied to the gene regulation home area. They gave me two interview date options (Jan 23&24 or Feb 20&21) in case anyone was wondering.
  20. I know someone that got into Harvard with a 3.3, someone that got into Yale with a 3.5, someone that got into UCSF with a 3.6, and someone that got into UCSD with a 3.2. All top programs. I think a lot of people are forgetting that your research experience and letters of rec. are key to getting into a good program. You definitely don't need to have cured cancer, or even have publications (only the Harvard person had one from the people I just mentioned). Also, it's your money, so I say if you want to spend it applying to dream schools, go for it. So, what if they say no? At least you tried.
  21. Congrats on the interviews! When are you planning on filling out that form UTSW sent us with the weekend preferences? I wanted to wait a little bit, just in case I hear back from other schools, but I don't want to wait too long. I was going to send them an email asking if there was a deadline, but no matter how I phrase it, it sounds like they are not my first choice, and I really don't want to give that impression.
  22. I submitted my app for UTSW on 11/12. The app didn't say "complete" until 11/17. I got the interview invite on 12/4. I think UTSW is a little different than other places in that they review apps as they get them, but other schools have a specific weekend where they get together and make decisions, so I wouldn't panic just yet. Good luck!
  23. INTERVIEW AT UTSW (DBS)!!!!! Got an email earlier this afternoon! Super stoked!
