  1. It was from a PI whose lab makes their own decisions about students, no university input whatsoever.

I only applied to work with him and nobody else. We've met and have developed a relationship over the past year so in my email I'd like to write something at the end about how I look forward to collaborating in the future or something like "let's stay in touch" but more professional sounding.

  2. Hello All!

How does one respond to a PI who lets you know they have decided to go with another applicant? I want to keep a relationship with them but am unsure how to end the email.

    Any thoughts???

    Thanks!!

  3. Thank you shadowclaw :)

Actually, I'm wondering if any of you could offer insight into my decision. While I realize I'm in a great position and am fortunate to have the luxury of making this choice, I feel a bit stuck in deciding between two incredible programs: UC Davis and UChicago. I'm currently working in the lab I would join at UC Davis and the adviser has a great reputation within the field, plus I know we get along very well. On the other hand, I'm really not sure I want to live in Davis for 6+ years and I think UChicago has better resources (the Field Museum, etc.). Has anyone heard anything helpful about either of the programs/any advice to offer?

Which program did you apply to within UC Davis? Animal Behavior, Ecology, etc??

  4. Hello All!

I have already spoken with two professors at the same university, same program and really like both of them for potential MS advisors.

Should I put them both in my SOP as listed faculty I want to work with or chose 1? I don't want to deter my chances of getting in by putting both of them and having them feel like I'm playing the fences making neither want me!

    What should i do????
