Does anyone have recommendation for the affordable studio/1-bed unit housing that is dog-friendly? I will be moving to SB to attend UCSB starting Fall 2015.
  2. No I have been interviewed by two schools, but none of the faculty members in both schools brought course-related questions. Like I said it is not required but for your own good; by taking multiple graduate courses you will have advantage of developing stronger research interests and also research ideas that you could potentially carry out when you get into grad school (I wrote my graduate-level course experiences in my SOP).
  3. It does help, or I should say it is almost assumed. I have taken 7 graduate courses (4 psych 3 stats) during my undergraduate career. No school requires you to take graduate courses, but it is one of essential part of your undergraduate training if you want to get a deeper understanding of specific research topics, which will lead to develop research interests that you would pursue in your grad school.
  4. has anyone heard back anything post-interview?
  5. I think you absolutely should reply back to her! Especially if you got into any other schools, you should definitely let her know of your current status. In case you did not get into any schools yet, informing her of your interests in attending the school will also help. It is not really necessary to ask her for a phone interview, unless you have specific set of questions (even if you do, it will not affect much of their decisions as you will be their 'back-up' candidate, they will have interviews with their first-choice candidates first). I am not a current graduate student, but I am in the same situation as you for one school, and my faculty advisor at my undergrad institution gave me aforementioned advices..
  6. Has anyone gone to the Cornell Social Program's interview(recruitment) weekend, which I believe happened last week? I was contacted by my POI awhile ago that I am on their shortlist, but not invited to the interview weekend. At first I thought I was placed on a waitlist, but she clarified that I was still being actively considered. I was wondering if anyone who went to Cornell Social psych interview weekend or who are in the same situation as I am heard anything from dept or their POIs. I just hope being in this limbo doesn't last too long..m
  7. Good to hear. I wished it to be more relaxing than usual interview days, but I guess I have to well prepared now.
  8. Hi I saw three posts saying, including myself, that they are wail-listed for Cornell' Social Psychology program. Thought it might be a good idea to start a thread to discuss our possibilities of getting in!
  9. I applied to social, and it is a recruitment day (not sure whether it is different from interview though).
  10. Is anyone invited to the UCSB social recruitment day on 2.17?
  11. All the invites have been sent out for UC Irvine, UC Davis, and Yale
  12. Does anybody know the difference between Interview day and Recruitment day? Are they basically the same? After having a phone interview, I was invited to the recruitment day for one school (social) and there is no mention of interview on that day (i.e., meals with faculty members and grad students, research lab tours, and a dinner party at a faculty's house).. I was just wondering if I should be prepared for a in-person interview, and be very formal.
  13. Has anyone applied to Ohio state or Cornell, and hear back from them? I know for a fact that UNC-Chapel Hill has already sent out invites, and UCSB and UVa are still in the process of making decisions.
  14. Got it! I did get official notification from grad coordinators at some of the schools that they will be sending out interview invitations early January. Keep my finger crossed.. p.s. We have UCSB in common!
  15. What do you mean by SPSP impacting the timeline for social psych admission? Could you explain it in more detail?
