I'm sort of straddling history / literature in my PhD area, but here's my 2c. I'm British, with a British BA and MA, applying and accepted to Cambridge, York, and Durham. Looking around York, I was asked why I didn't automatically go to America or Canada (specifically the Burney centre at McGill) as I would apparently have an easier career with an American PhD.
Now moved on to Les Particules Elementaires, to brush up my literary french. Amazing book in a 'I don't know whether to be enthralled or disgusted' sort of way.
Tintin and the secret of literature, by Tom McCarthy. It basically deconstructs the texts via Freud, Derrida, et al, arguing that, in some cases, Tintin is better than literature as a way of navigating signs and discourse.
Also fun fact: Haddock is an illegitimate descendent of Charles XIV.
Yes, turns out you're right. I got the following email from a query I sent to graduate admissions before posting here, or on TSR:
Dear Applicant
Due to a recent update to our records system, “Scholarship Applications” under “Tracking Your Finances” is no longer visible in Self Service. It is not indicative of success or otherwise with regards to your application for funding. Successful applicants will be notified once the outcome is known and the time line for this is available on the page below.

I have! But they take a while to reply. I'm just being anxious, really. Spent ages googling to see if anyone had had the same thing happen to them, and apparently not.
Hi, accepted for a History PhD at Cambridge, and have applied for AHRC/CHESS funding as a home student.
The other day, i noticed that the 'scholarship application' section has disappeared from CAMSIS/graduate self service account. Anyone have any idea why this might be?
