I'm in the same situation. No acceptances, no rejections. Just a complete silence... while others have been getting invites/acceptances. I've become pretty jaded and started thinking about backup plans.

Anyone know if cornell sent out invites for interviews yet?

Thanks guys. It is helpful to hear the wisdom from those who have gone through this maddening process already, and reassuring to know that it's not the end of the world if this cycle doesn't prove to be fruitful.

I am just curious. For those of you who did not get into the programs you wanted in the first application cycle, what did you end up doing until the next cycle? Did you just go for a masters or find a full time job? I have been getting a fair share of rejections and feel the need to plan some back up. For those who did end up reapplying in another cycle, any advice on what I can do in the remaining year to make my application for the next cycle stronger?

You can apply to other departments and choose BioE as your "home school". I believe most of the deadlines have passed, however. BioE - chem e deadline is Feb 1st (tomorrow), but I don't know if that's the hard deadline (whether all the supplementary doc/LOR must be submitted by that time too). I definitely don't have time to submit everything by then. Btw, did you get your rejection for UW via email?
