  1. You're an amazing applicant, and from what I've seen on this thread, also an amazing human being (I know these shouldn't be mutually exclusive, but well, it takes all kinds, I suppose). You've been a source of wonderful support and kind words and have really made GC a home away from...Mordor, yes, Mordor...for me and loads of other people, I'm certain. It ain't over till it's over, and I know in my gut you'll get an acceptance to a program that fits you like a glove one of these days. It'll happen, I swear it. Also, it is my delight to announce that "fuck the GRE" will be playing in a town near you! Lol seriously though, if a test like that is meant to reflect true ability, then I reckon it isn't doing the job it's meant to. You know this, I know this, and the Big Book of Cute Little Tricks knows this. Xx
  2. Discretion is the better part of valor. Always.
  3. Stevie Nicks makes it all better
  4. This was super sweet and made me feel something indescribable. A round of applause for the accomplishments and the sense of kinship. Super heartening!
  5. YEEEEEEEEES amazing feat! Congratulations! :D Of course, I meant to say: YEEEEEEEEES THE CAULDRON HAS ERUPTED; IT SHALL BE DONE. MWAHAHAHAHA lol sorry characters help me with this whole process lolol
  6. March? I don't think so. Waiting till March to hear? ha. haha. hahahaha
  7. WAIT...where is this information on Cali schools? I'm gonna puke lol
  8. Agreed 100%. Congratulations to the Duke admit!!! But to be frank, what terrifies me more is how wonderful the stats are of some of the people getting rejected from these programs. What is this mystical force called "fit?"
  9. Get ready lol I dreamt that my best friend (whom I adore and who has a grotesque sense of humor) hid all of letters (all rejections, of course [xoxo from the sandman]) and revealed a gorgeous formal dress she made out of my rejection slips on April 15th, which, incidentally, is the date for a queer formal at our alma mater. Lol I hate my brain sometimes
  10. I mean, real talk, this shit hurts a ton. the suffocating silence. No POI contact, not status updates, no mail. I feel like I'm literally in the panic room
  11. Lol honestly I'm still on season 7. I just found out they're doing it again....whyyyyyy/omg hooooot
  12. Spike lol omg I feel filthy but what's this I hear about him hooking up with Buffy again? Lol heya
  13. That moment when I can't recognize my behavioral patterns anymore
  14. I feel like if you go to analytics and scroll down, all of your hits (papers, profiles or otherwise) will be stratified based on region/city and country/state
  15. I got rejected for the fellowship, so I suppose it's no longer an issue xoxo to you all for being so supportive
  16. Just to say thank you all and ask one more question...remember that moment in our applications when they ask if we're applying for external fellowships? I marked no at the time of application, but there was a fellowship that came to my attention within the last two weeks or so, for which I have applied for first-round assessments. Am I to alert my schools that the answer to my response has changed, or does that depend entirely on actually getting the damned thing? Xoxo
  17. I love the Google doc idea, for all the reasons posted. But for my own peace of mind as well. I'm very comfortable talking about my numbers because (as I'm sure some of you remember), I believe that test scores are a form of fascism, but lately I've become really insecure about my GRE situation and need the pick me up. I'd definitely contribute. (If anyone is interested my stats are on a forum topic I started on comp lit/am studies fears, insecurities etc.) Again, I concur that many people would benefit from this not for reasons of comparison/"chance me" but for hope and friendship. I need friends lol
  18. *but if *recommender Gradcafe mobile is weird
  19. I know it sounds silly, but breathe and wait...if your recommender is aware, they're probably taking time to write you a very strong letter, and do so at their own discretion, since they do have a better understanding about how the admissions/committee deadlines work and when roughly committees around the U.S. at least convene to review dossiers. Rest assured that the letter will most definitely be part of your file by the time the committee is ready to read it. Now for Plan B: if the recommender doesn't respond to your reminder within a week of your initial email, call or email the DGS/ department you're applying to and explain the situation.bif that doesn't seem to help, give it another week and proceed to scrambling for a last-minute (but equally enthusiastic and indispensable) recommended. I was in this exact situation and by day 13 my recommender had my back and submitted all 8 letters. Best of luck always. Xx
  20. Cookies and body pillows from target

  22. Finally back in the U.S...easier gradcafe access, or gateway to insanity?
