  1. We're two weeks away from results, give or take. I'm definitely feeling the excitement and anxiety come in waves! I have my fingers crossed for everyone. And regardless of the results, it's been nice chatting with you all! For those finishing up their programs, what stage are you at? I have a mature draft of my dissertation, and am in the (hopefully) last round of edits before I submit to my full committee. I'm hoping to defend in early April, submit my final dissertation by the end of April, and graduate in the fall. *knock on wood*
  2. I'm not sure - I don't see anything on the instructions page about it. I would send an email to fellowships@sshrc-crsh.gc.ca and ask!
  3. Not nosy at all! If I'm successful I'll hold my SSHRC postdoc at Saint Mary's University in Halifax, Nova Scotia in the history department. And Beals - I'm constantly thinking about back up plans! It's not a wonderful plan, but if I'm unsuccessful I'll still finish my PhD either this semester or early in the summer. I plan to get a day job (something that pays decent so I can get on a better financial footing) and continue to teach part-time contract classes in my city, publish a few articles, and continue applying for jobs and postdocs. I'll re-evaluate later if I want to continue working towards an academia job or go alt-academia. Either way I know I'll continue researching, writing, and publishing! I love the field too much to walk away completely.
  4. Hey! Here's the link for all of the regulations for holding the SSHRC Postdoc: https://www.nserc-crsng.gc.ca/Students-Etudiants/Guides-Guides/TriRTA-TriBFR_eng.asp#deferment Here's the section on deferring a start date: Deferment of start date Before activating the payment of award, the start date may be deferred beyond the available start dates. The award value and duration will not be affected by the deferment, and an award recipient may apply for more than one type of deferment consecutively. The award recipient must select the new start date from the available start dates table. A deferment of start date may be requested for the following reasons: Parental or medical leave, and/or family-related responsibilities The award start date may be deferred for up to three years The leave may be taken in increments that add up to, but must not exceed, three years Relevant supporting documents are required (for example, birth or adoption certificate, medical note) A deferment greater than one year must be confirmed by submitting a new Request for Deferment of Start Date or Interruption of Award form on an annual basis; however, no new supporting documents will be necessary Relevant work experience The award start date may be deferred for up to one year The deferment may be taken in increments that add up to, but must not exceed, one year Relocation, visa application or academic calendar differences The award start date may be deferred for up to two months, and an exception to the available start dates can be requested A Request for Deferment of Start Date or Interruption of Award form must be completed and sent to the appropriate program contact for approval.
  5. Hi Beals, I applied last year, and they sent out the results electronically at the end of February, slightly staggered (they started sending out the results February 22nd or 23rd, and people received them whenever they were uploaded to their file). I received my decision letter February 25th. SSHRC will likely follow a similar schedule this time around! Good luck
  6. Hello, everyone. I made the thread on SSHRC Postdoctoral Fellowship applications last year, and it was a great source of comfort and information during the process! The results for the 2022-2023 competition will be announced towards the end of February 2022. If you'd like to discuss anything here re: the application or results, please do so! This is my second time applying. I wish you all the best luck!!
  7. I just sent out the emails to my supervisor, potential supervisor, and host institution contacts informing them I wasn't successful. What a kick in the pants haha. Time to get back to grading essays...
  8. I still can't like posts yet today (I liked a lot of them yesterday) otherwise likes would be flying around. No pressure, but I made a Facebook group if anyone is interested in staying in touch, and doing what Milara suggested (academic job searching, tips and advice for ABDs, Postdocs, and early academics in general). Even just general support. Reading these messages while waiting for my results and again after I found out I wasn't funded really helped. If you're interested, the name of the group is Precarious Academics Unite.
  9. I woke up to my results this morning. I didn't get the funding. Here are the statistics for 2B: Challenge (20%): 4.64/6 Feasibility (30%): 4.24/6 Capability (50%): 5.03/6 Total score: 4.72/6 Rank: 28/69 Applications: 69 Fellowships offered: 12 (20.3%) Fellowships not offered: 55 (79.7%) Score of last funded application: 5.02
  10. I am so sorry this happened. I agree with the others on here - if you can, you should report her. And know that you're more than your work, and more than the bad things you've experienced. I've read every post on this thread, and you stood out as a very articulate, engaged, and interesting individual. If you stay in academia or look elsewhere, you will help people and make a difference.
  11. I'm a historian and submitted to Committee 2 (I can't remember if it was 2A or 2B). Just updating others that I have not received my results yet. It's 4:09 PM in Ottawa, which likely means no other results will be posted today. At least I know there are others out there in a pit of anxiety like me haha.
  12. I was getting the same message when I used my browser history to bring up the Extranet portal - the link works for me best when I click it from the email when they sent my username and password (for me that was back in December). You should try to find the email with the link and see if that works for you.
  13. Do you already have an Extranet account?
  14. And also losing my mind haha. Definitely stressing over the results.
  15. Have a great presentation! I hope you have good news waiting for you afterwards
  16. I'm sorry - you were so close! If it makes it any better, you know you had a very strong application. Sending good thoughts your way for a great scholastic year, or whatever is coming your way
  17. If I'm reading this correctly, you were successful. Congratulations on the great news!!
  18. I'm in the same boat - I'll grade an essay, and check my portal. Grade an essay, check the portal. Knowing my track record with IT and waiting, my results will probably be posted Friday night haha.
  19. I have been checking my extranet portal every other 20 minutes today after reading a few people received their results - if anyone receives results from committee 2 please post!
  20. Maybe the applications this year were scored higher than in previous years? Going with the normal 20% acceptance rate, the top 15 or so accepted proposals had a higher-than-typical score compared to other top 15 accepted applications in other years.
  21. Thank you for sharing the stats on Committee 5 - was your application successful?
  22. When I went to my browser history and clicked on the Extranet website, it wouldn't let me log in, and I think it said 'Access Denied' or something similar. But, when I click on the link in the email, it lets me log in. I hope that's helpful!
