  1. Hi All, I just checked my official PennDesign offer of admissions (it came out at noon today), and the letter said nothing about financial aid. Not even 'unfortunately we are unable to offer you any funding at this time.' Huh?? I'm super confused. Did anyone else have a similar experience??
  2. I could see $16,000 being very much doable in TO. Especially if you get a paid internship in the summer term, it wouldn't be terrible. But I agree, at the same time, you wouldn't exactly be considered well to do. Or even all that comfortable, as a matter of fact haha
  3. Questions about applying to Canadian universities as an American: 1) Is there a disadvantage as an international in admissions? (As in, quota?) 2) Is there less funding available? I totally understand if both are the case. Canadian universities are all public, so their main goals are to train Canadians. But still, I'm curious! Thanks!
  4. The only meh part of that agreement is if you're applying to schools in multiple countries (say, US and Canada). Canadian universities often respond with funding offers after April 15th, so unless you're offered a good package before that date, you may have to give a definitive yes to a US institution before your Canadian choices even send out funding results. This date should be WORLDWIDE!!!!
  5. Is it a bad idea to visit a school before admissions decisions are made? Or could it possibly bolster your application?
  6. I'd ask your professor in school A where master's graduates go for PhD's. If the majority of those students go to school B, then I'd definitely choose A because of the scholarship potential. If, however, none of the grad students from A go on for PhD's, I'd be more hesitant and probably go to school B. Just out of curiosity, are you in Singapore?
  7. I am the quintessential freak-out type, and as much as I know it won't help, I have been checking my e-mail 10x per day and anxiously waiting letters in the mail. To help calm my crazy, I ask the forum: In your experience, when will universities start sending out responses? Is January wishful thinking? Thanks!
