  1. Guys, I had a weird URTA experience. UCLA called me to tell me the envelope I sent them had been tampered with and the contents had been removed. Fortunately, this particular envelope just contained a jump drive with my digital portfolio on it and not my whole application. During this conversation, it became apparent that all my interactions with UCLA had been wrong--when I contacted UCLA directly in late 2015 (which URTA instructs us to do), UCLA's graduate theatre department told me that I needed to pay another application fee and fill out their unique application. This administrator said, "no, you didn't need to do that, they don't know what they're talking about. Applicants who applied through URTA should have sent their application to this one person (some particular person at UCLA who is in contact with Sara Falconer)." So I lost an extra $100 and now, if they want to interview me, I'm not an applicant through URTA--I'm a regular UCLA grad school applicant. So...question: how did everyone do this URTA thing? I contacted each school directly and then sent them a paper and email copy of my common packet. Was I missing a step here? After sending these, I filled out the reference form. Did I miss the boat or did UCLA? Also, are there any other lady directors on this here forum?
  2. Got a finalist email from DePaul today...I'm excited but there's no funding, right?
  3. Bluebane, thanks for the heads up for CMU. Any other Caden questions you remember? Sounds a little lame. My CMU is tomorrow. Did anyone apply to Columbia? I auditioned with them last year and will be returning this year for that fun but druddggggging weekend!
  4. Hey @voldy24601, Yale called me for an interview today. They said they're making calls today and tomorrow. Best of luck!!!!
  5. BROWN QUESTION! Is the Brown interview required for all applicants or, like the other schools, do we wait to hear? I was a little confused by the language on the website.
  6. Hey guys, Groupon is offering $48 rooms at the Inn of Chicago, .6 miles from the Westin during the time we'll be auditioning with URTA. With tax, the room comes to about $62. Can't beat the convenience of the location if you don't have a friend who lives close to the Westin.
  7. Hi, y'all! Did you notice the color options available to us now? This is going to make our experience so much better. Excited to read these postings, and after applying last year, I'm warm all over for this opportunity to connect. As for me: last year I was finishing up my undergraduate degree (I'm not a spring chicken, however...approaching 28[!]) and I applied to only Yale and Columbia in order to focus on my thesis. Yale didn't bat an eye, Columbia put me second on their waitlist. Like many of you, I'm finished up the Yale and Columbia apps. (do tomorrow) presently. I'm also applying to the usual culprits (DePaul, Northwestern, WashU, Brown, CalArts, Carnegie). I signed up for the URTAs in Chicago before I realized how limited the turnout was going to be. I'd love to hear more about some of the schools at URTA that excite you (and why the excite you). I'm looking forward to learning more about you all and hearing about your experiences, frustrations, and victories over the next few months. All the best, April
  8. Good luck at Calarts, Clementiney. If you'd like to meet up or at least say "hi" at Columbia, I'd love that. Email me, and we can talk a little more: aprilcleveland@mac.com
  9. Who's going to Columbia's audition in February? Sounds like a bootcamp, and I'm feeling a little overwhelmed about it! Does anyone have any insight on what that two-day process actually looks like?
  10. It's true, bluebane (which my computer just tried to autocorrect to bluebonnet), the radio silence is pretty terrible sometimes. I'm glad I found this forum! On another note, I'm interested to hear what kinds of projects everyone is working on (or has worked on).
  11. Just heard from Columbia, but pretty bummed to hear Yale gave their interview invites in December -- I was really hoping for one !
