  1. Hello everyone! Just thought of giving a heads up on my experience with Lund. I am international student doing my PhD at Lund University. I finally arrived here in August and I loved the place from the very first day. Small place, with students all over and LU is great! Never felt that being non-swedish was a problem. Most of the important communications are in English and not knowing sweidsh is never an issue. People are great and friendly as well. However, the only flip-side (in my experience thus far) is the housing in Lund, Just ridiculously crazy! there is just no place. The university housing queue (AF housing) has a wait time of 1.5 to 2 years for bigger (2+ rooms) apartments. So, if you are a senior student coming to Lund with your family looking for a larger apartment, make sure to sort out the housing much before you arrive. Otherwise be prepared to have a nightmare. Also, lots of fake landlords who put up advertisements on housing sites and demand huge sums of deposits! Be aware of fraudsters! In short, if you have sorted out with the housing, then you will have a great time in Lund! Cheers!
  2. How sweet. Thank you so much. Lund looks like a lovely place. I am excited to be there in August.
  3. Thank you. Been doing some house hunting for the past few days and it looks to be extremely challenging to find a shelter to live! So I guess I may have to take whatever and wherever I get.
  4. Thank You so much for the detailed reply. I was looking for a 2 bed+2 bath around 7000 SEK. Is that possible ? I would like to live in the Lund Municipality area since I have a kid who needs to go to school (Lund International/ISL). I don't mind cycling a bit more. Do you have any recommendations for a place ? Thanks again!
  5. Thanks guys. I am essentially looking for recommendations for a place to stay around the school of economics and management. I would be attending a PhD program there. Cheers
  6. Thanks. I am looking for areas that are served by Chase Street Elementary School. Maybe I will look into areas that are served by this school and fall in the northeastern part of the town. Cheers!
  7. thanks. Apparently the university accommodation is on a waitlist. So I have to look for a place outside the university. I am looking for something around N Chase street and Barber street (these are to the north of the campus). Wonder how is this area for grad students with family?
  8. Thank You for the information. I too would personally prefer University housing. I think its free of worries. There are options in Brandon Oaks, University Village and Rogers Road. Are all suitable for family housing ? Or is there something from this that should be overlooked ? I would be there (hopefully) with my family with kids.
  9. ok guys! Need some serious help. I am accepted to a PhD program and will most likely accept it. Could anyone give me any pointers about family housing at UTA ?
  10. Just wondering about the cost of living ? Can I get (for e.g) a decent 2 bed/2 bath apartment for less than 1000$ close to the university ?
  11. Thanks guys for the information.
  12. No replies ? Does this place suck ?
  13. Hi - Anyone from Arlington Texas here who would like to share about the University and the place ? I would (hopefully) be heading there with my family for a PhD program. So inputs about housing (reasonable) and schools if possible would be great! Cheers!
