  1. Going for the MPA program, so Nocho and Glitter I guess I'll be seeing you there! Is anybody looking at any of the graduate housing options like Mercer, Nordheim, or Stevens?
  2. Huh, mine still says "submitted". Thanks for the update though, now I think I'm going to send them an email.
  3. I'm still waiting on this one too. Checking my email every hour is getting tiring.
  4. Previous Schools (Name, type, or tier): Regional University Previous Degrees and GPAs: English 3.29 GRE Scores (Verbal/Quantitative/Analytical Writing): V:162 Q: 157 A: 3.5 Previous Work Experience (Years, Type): 5 years retail leadership. 2 years Peace Corps Math/Econ Background: Nada Foreign Language Background (if applicable to your program): Bahasa Indonesia Intended Field of Study in Grad School: Non-Profit & Local Government Long Term Professional Goals: Start out in the public sector to gain experience & stability, but ultimately get to non-profit work. I'd also love to work for Peace Corps at some point. Schools Applied to & Results: UW Evans (Accepted - Half $), USC Price (Accepted - Half $), U Arizona (Accepted), UPenn (Still waiting) Ultimate Decision & Why: UW Evans...unless UPenn comes up with an offer I can't refuse this weekend. Their specialties are right in my wheelhouse, and I'm from the Seattle area so after 2 years in the peace Corps it'll be nice to settle back near my family and friends. While I'll still be looking at debt for living costs, and some tuition, their funding offer and home-town advantage made the decision easy. Advice for Future Applicants: I believe the only reason why I got accepted was because of my statement of purpose and Peace Corps experience. My academics were lacking, and I had no academic letters of recommendation - which most programs said they "required". Obviously for experience like Peace Corps, you either have it or need to get it, but my advice on the SOP is to not do yourself any favors. Like any serious piece of writing, let the most particular, anal-retentive, contentious people you know (My English Major friends) tear it apart again and again until they give you at least a "looks alright". Then don't forget to buy them a beer or something for the trouble.
  5. Everyone who recieved half-tuition, how are you feeling about the cost-benefit of USC? I recieved half, which is great, but now I'm am on the fence as it's still basically 16k base tuition per year. I know USC has a fantastic reputation, and it's the best offer I have on the table at the moment, but I was curious to see how others with similar offers were viewing the burden of the remaining 60k+ we'd have to cover for two years. Anyone in the same shoes?
  6. I went through the same thing earlier this month. It took three tries sending my transcript before they got it. The winner finally got through when I sent it directly to the department instead of their central admissions. But don't stress, I think this is a good sign for you. I was accepted, and from my point of view, if they knew they were going to reject you they wouldn't be waiting on your transcript. Just stay in contact with them and let them know you're trying to send it again.
  7. Just got my acceptance letter as an MPA. No mention of funding, though as someone else in the results section mentioned, the letter was from office of admission and basically said the department may contact with further information.
  8. Yeah I've been trying for a month now to get an idea where I stand on funding, but so far but my email and phone messages have garnered no response. Glad to see i'm not the only one having difficulties.
  9. Wow I'd heard about IBR but had no idea about the 10 year forgiveness. Irregardless of the bigger policy picture, it sounds like a stellar deal for our lot. Thanks for the article - makes me feel a little bit better about striking out on scholarships thus far.
  10. Hey freeverse, i emailed too but no reply yet. Im not an international student - just a peace corps volunteer overseas right now so i dunno about that theory, but my current thinking is they wouldnt have accepted us so early if they werent going to make a competitive offer at some point. I think it'll come, as it is still very early. Im sure Barry will get back to us one way or another ths week.
  11. Hey guys, Seems I was in the same email batch (and a PCV too!). I was accepted but no mention of funding. Kinda seems strange to me - being accepted so early but not being offered any aid package. Anyway, I'm gonna email them soon to see if I'm still being considered for that. Congrats to you both though! Hopefully I'll be able to join you.
