Hi, as some others on this thread, I'm an international student and will be moving to NY in august. I can't make it earlier and I have no idea how not to get scammed while searching for a place without looking at it I will be attending NYU. Would you reccomend any particular neibourghood with a good commute? Thank you!

After so many rejections I can't believe I actually made it to NYU!!!! I was on the wait list, and got an e-mail form my POI in the middle of the night, couldn't sleep after, I was so excited! Altough I mostly was a quiet lurker here, I wouldn't made it through this awfull process without this awesome forum, thank you so much! Hope you can also find your perfect place

I just got an e-mail from Columbia to check the website. Rejected. Even though I saw it coming (didn't hear back from them AT ALL, all this time) I can't help but feel that this is the nail in the coffin. Still didn't hear back from Michigan (Anth & Hist PhD) and Duke. Do you gays now anything? (I'm so sad that I have to watch some cute panda videos to get myself together)

And of course I'm blaming myself for not checking before on that Well, at least I'll will have the slight satisfaction of getting that rejection without pain anymore knowing that I could've had a chance hahaha ("laugh and cries")

I just realized my application to Columbia was never complete, because ETS didn't send my GRE and TOEFL results! I can't believe it! What am I supposed to do? Will I get at least my money back? Do guys know about anybody in a similar situation? I wanna kill someone right now

Well, I didn't even had an interview, so I guess that's a no. Thank you anyway! It's better to know

Hey Suavesana, could I ask you how did you get to know about your rejection from Duke? Like was it a mail or the web page or something else? I'm sorry for asking, I know it must be painful I just wish to know already and start torturing myself.

Yeah, I'm so sorry I didn't want to freak you out, I'm the one freaking out here, let's not mix it! The thing is, as NOWAYNOHOW says, the enterview process is very different for each university. Sometimes they want to speak with you, sometimes they don't, it doesn't necessarily defines your options (or lack of them) everywhere. I had no idea that the (very informal) conversations that I had with some of the faculty at NYU counted as "enterviews" until I entered de "results search" here at GC and saw that every kind of conversation (after the deadlines) counted as enterviews for many people... I was infected with the "freak-out" virus, let's do some group therapy

A friend of mine (who isn't in grad cafe, so didn't post it here) got an interview last week... It seems like they are still sending them out, but I'm loosing hopes.

Same here, I didn't hear back from Stanford, Duke, Columbia, Harvard and Michigan, and seems like everybody got their enterviews lined up. Just going to drown in a pool of despair (or vodka, vodka sounds better!)

My POI at NYU told me that the 8 acceptances were already sent out, so it looks like indeed they made the decisions earlier than they planned. Can I ask who was your POI there? At Harvard were you applying for the PhD or the MA? I'm applying for the PhD and haven't heard anything yet, not an interview, nothiiiiing. I guess it means it's lost. I'm also applying for UMichigan and haven't heard back yet. I've been checking the results searches and looks like no one have gotten their answer (either rejecttion or acceot) yet. So there is still hope for us! Best luck to all of you!!

Yesterday I got a mail from a POI from NYU telling me that I've been waitlisted, but I thought that was my best shot so I guess If I didn't make it there, the chances of getting anywhere else are dissapearing.
