If any UC-Irvine admits have any questions feel free to PM me.
Ah, I saw you did this last year too, how awesome. You are quite the UCI unofficial ambassador! I'm hoping to hear some good news... though it looks like acceptances and wait lists have been sent out. Keep being awesome though, and congrats to everyone else.

For anyone who applied to UOregon: the admissions committee is meeting this afternoon (so, now) to make decisions, and we should hear very soon.
Oh thanks for the info! I have seen that previous years had roughly 133 applicants and could only accept 6 (last year I think). Nerve-wracking indeed! Best to everyone.

Yes, please keep in mind that not all schools have an "official" wait list where they inform you! My husband was accepted to a school for Sociology back in April, 2012. He never even knew he was on a wait list and assumed he had been rejected without notification. We were already making plans to move to another school he had an acceptance at.

I just called Harvard. All those accepted have been notified. Those waitlisted have not been notified.
Ah, there you go. This could very well be the possibility with UCIrvine as well.. You never know.. Hang in there everyone!

Is harvard open today? Did they let out all admitted/ waitlist decisions?
I have seen a few posts stating that Harvard was closed yesterday and also today.

I contacted CSU. They won't will notify their first candidates in March. So we need to be patiet for a while.
Thanks so much!

Congrats to everyone who got accepted to CU! I went there for my undergrad degree, so feel free to ask me questions about professors or the department or anything. I'll also be posting in the city guide about Boulder.
Do you have any good info on Ft Collins (Colo State) too!? Very cool though, I actually didn't realize there was a city guide on these forums. How helpful!

Anyone claiming that Penn State acceptance from last week? Does anyone know if they've already sent out all of their acceptances?
I know someone in 2012 that was accepted for Fall 2012 to Penn State, in April, on a Saturday during spring break via email. They will go on for awhile. I do believe this acceptance was an unofficial wait-list finally receiving admittance though. Also, it was a full ride.

Happy Monday! Another big week I bet. From previous years, it looks like UC Irvine will send out acceptances at the end of this week...

Well. I haven't been rejected from Berkeley. Yet. The day is still young on the west coast however. Did I not pay may app fee?
Sounds like you made it past the first reject pile! There are a few others reporting no news also. In this instance, I'd say, no news is good news.

The POI lamented that it is difficult for programs to admit older students.
I should have probably asked for more detail! The arguments can cut either way. And I certainly didn't (still don't) think I'm a demographic anomaly. And I still feel like I'm 19. So it made me curious how many others applying are in their early 30s. I guess there are a few of us judging from the responses.
Would you be willing to share with us which school this POI was at? My husband is in his mid-30's and applied to some of the schools you did. I always was under the impression that applying a little older had a few advantages in some ways. Guess everyone has a different preference.

Has anyone over 30 been accepted into a program? Over 25? Are there any age-related statistics out there?
I'm curious about the role age (may or may not) play in admissions after a conversation with a POI yesterday.
Yes! Absolutely! Sure there could be some issues. I can say for sure that within the last 2 years I know 2 people that were accepted, full funding into PhD programs in their early and mid 30's. This is specifically in Socilogy too, they were outstanding students, great GRE scores, amazing research, previously published work and a solid GPA. I would say the 30's are totally normal. Can't speak beyond that though.

My friend, who does not participate on these forums, received a full offer from University of Florida (Gainesville) today. He had a POI who called and spoke (light interview) over the phone early last week.

Are most of you applying for Masters admissions or PhD? I'm just a friendly, helpful board stalker, my husband has apps out for his PhD.

Watching this like a hawk! Someone was correcty when they mentioned that these forums seem so quiet this year...
In all fairness though, I guess we aren't quite to the big acceptance week yet.
