Other than a few threads where people discuss subjective rankings, there doesn't seem to be much discussion on this forum on comparing the top biostatistics PhD programs. There is only so much you can get through exploring websites and having a day or two to visit, so I thought it would be nice to have a post where current/former students and professors could share their experience and thoughts on the top biostatistics PhD programs. Things to discuss would be if schools are strong in a certain area, quality of life for students, grad placement, department culture, etc... From amstat, the current top 10 schools are: 1. Harvard University 2. University of Washington 3. Johns Hopkins 4. UNC 5. University of Michigan 6. UC-Berkeley 7. University of Minnesota 8. University of Wisconsin 9. UCLA 10. Columbia However, there are plenty of other great schools that are not in that list, so I definitely don't want discussion to be limited to those school (especially with what I said before about rankings...). Hopefully this can be a great resource for current/future applicants

I also got an email this morning for an acceptance into the Michigan Biostat PhD program.

I just got an email from Jelena, she said that they're "awaiting some financial news before finalizing the last decisions," and that we'll find out by late February at the latest.

Has anyone heard anything about when the decisions are actually going to be sent out?

Yup, PhD Biostatistics

I got a call last night from a University of Michigan Biostatistics professor asking me if I was still considering their PhD program. It looks like they will be deciding on funding in two weeks or so. It was nice to hear from them, as they're amongst the last of the major biostatistics programs to decide on interviews/admission this year.

Are you talking about the interview invitations they sent a few weeks ago, or are they actually sending out the letters of acceptance?
