Does anyone know when NYU will come back with their decisions on who they interviewed? I saw that a couple cognition people posted, but no social...

I agree that you can call the grad secretary and ask, but you're most likely out. NYU invited 20 people for the social program and they're only going to take about half of them, so the chances that they will hate all of those people and start accepting people they didn't interview is slim to none. A lot of places just don't send out all of their rejections until after they've had their interview day. For your peace of mind, i would just cross NYU off your list.

I was just thinking about that the other day. I wonder if they really do see this as a bit of a fundraiser, because i can't believe that it takes up too much of their time. That's pretty sad too because it means that there is a definite selection effect for those who can vs. those who can't afford to pay all of the application fees.

I just found out that someone in my lab who blatantly steals ideas and ever since being promoted has been pretty mean to the RAs got into Stanford's sociology program. I know that psych is way more competitive than soc, but it still kills me, considering that i still don't have an acceptance yet. Any supportive words would be greatly appreciated.

Wow, yeah, that guy is ridiculous. I mean, if you're going to be in academia, you're going to have to realize that rejection is part of the process--you just have to keep going. Besides, how ridiculous is it that he didn't get in anywhere else either and yet he's only going off on Duke because that was his last hope? That man could stand to take a psych class or two.

Just got my Yale rejection as well. At least they sent out the rejections early. Even if i know i'm rejected because i didn't get an interview somewhere, there's something comforting about knowing 100%.

I just called Yale and the assistant to the director of the graduate program confirmed that all of their acceptances have been sent out already.

I haven't heard anything either. The only thing i do know is that the person who posted on the results page that they got an interview for the social program at Yale didn't apply to work with her. I thought Yale was supposed to make all of their acceptance decisions by yesterday, but you never know what could come up that would make things take longer.

Did anyone here apply to work with Margaret Clark at Yale?

Yes, i believe that is correct. Yale admits you without an interview. The "visiting day" really is just that--a day to visit the school and check out the program. So one way or another, if you applied to Yale, you'll know by the end of the week whether you got in or not.

I just called Yale's psych dept and asked if all of the invitations for visitors' day have been sent out yet and the woman said that they would all be done by the end of this week.

Does anyone know anything about Yale this year? For example, when the profs are meeting? Whether you're accepted before visiting day or after the interview? How many people they plan to accept?

I emailed UNC to ask if they have sent out interview invites yet to Visiting Day on February 12th and they said they have.

I emailed the people at NYU to ask whether invites have been sent out yet and this was their reply: The date for interviews has not been settled on yet. Applicants who are invited to interview will be informed of the day at that time.
