  1. Hey Team! Would any of the people who have heard back from Waterloo mind pm'ing me their POI? Thanks!
  2. I've never heard of a clinical suitability interview at Ryerson. If they are doing them, they are either brand new or incredibly rare. An interview with the DCT is also not be default a clinical suitability interview. Sometimes POIs will have their top candidates interview with other faculty members in order to get a second opinion.
  3. That's true but I'm pretty sure gender plays a pretty big role. I have a friend in clinical who is a straight male and he received offers to 11/11 schools. I'm sure his application was good, but given the element of chance involved I can't believe that wasn't a factor--and neither can he. I've heard profs say outright that they would prefer a male. I'm not sure that's a bad thing perse because we need male clinicians, but it is frustrating as a female applicant.
  4. They can, but it wouldn't be productive because priority profs don't always find a student they want to take. A prof that has priority can take a student, but if they don't find a good match, they don't have to take one.
  5. Oh that makes me feel much better. Thanks guys! Fingers crossed everyone gets good news today!
  6. That's true up to a point. There are definitely a few professors who manage to take a clinical student every year. But, that often has more to do with seniority/tenure than the ability to provide funding. Ultimately, they want to make sure that new labs and small labs are able to get enough bodies to be able to build funding capacity. If anyone wants to pm me their poi I might be able to gauge the likelihood of your acceptance getting kiboshed by the committee. Also, in past years the Ryerson interview process has been left largely up to the professors. I know professors who have interviewed tens of applicants in a year, and others who have interviewed 2. The timeline also can vary by professor.
  7. As a someone very familiar with the program, yes that happens. Essentially the program has funding for x number of students and profs with new labs or smaller labs that rely on departmental funding to a greater degree get priority. It's a wierd system, but a friend of mine got into the clinical program but found out much later for that exact reason.
  8. Hi guys, I'm newish to the forum and decided I would stop lurking. I applied to five schools and am now feeling a bit anxious about limiting myself to so few schools. I have an hons ba, with a 3.77 program GPA and 3.8 upper level GPA, and a MA in clinical psych from a well known APA accredited institution. My grad GPA is 4.0/4.0. I got 162/162/4.5 on the GREs, and have 2 peer-reviewed publications, 1 publication under review, and 7 conference presentations-of which I am first author of 5. I applied to BGSU, University of Oklahoma, and University of South Florida, and two Canadian schools. Am I screwed? Do schools that say they don't do interviews actually not do interviews? Grad cafe says people have already been offered admission at BGSU. Does anyone know if interviews there are done systematically or on a more ad hoc basis? Congratulations to everyone who has been successful so far!
