To the person who got the acceptance to UNC Chapel Hill for Social Psych-- would you mind please sending me a PM with the name of your adviser? I went to the interview but so far, I haven't heard back from my potential adviser.

I called Wisconsin this morning. I was told that if I didn't hear from them so far, I should take any offers that I have been offered by other schools. Basically, I was kindly told that I should be expecting a rejection letter. I didn't bother to call Northwestern because I figured that it would be the same thing.

Has anyone heard from Northwestern or Wisconsin-Madison?

Just got my rejection letter from UCI telling me how much I suck. Yay... That was my top choice... Wish I didn't suck so much.

For UIUC, I understand that they have an admission committee meeting, and they pick who they are going to admit right off the bat. They do things differently than most schools-- they admit your first, then they interview you. From what I've heard, they have already sent their admission packages a few weeks ago so we're sorta doomed if we haven't heard by now. Idk when the rejections are coming, but they are coming. Best just to brace for it.

Last year the letter came about 1 or 2 weeks later... Or at least it felt like that. I don't really remember. But I was like, awww that's sweet. You wanted to remind me about how much you think I suck. Thank you.

I got rejected too this morning! One more rejection letter for the pile of rejection letters that I'm planning to burn in a nice bonfire by the beach. Or tear into little pieces. Or make a dartboard. Haven't fully decided yet what I'm going to do with them. (I'm joking) They may have been a bit behind with sending them-- you know since they needed to send 545 of them.

I saw on the results page that someone got a rejection letter from Oregon. I haven't gotten mine yet (I'd like to get it over with, and just get it already) and my status online still shows as pending (and no, I wasn't invited to the interview so there is no hope to be on a waitlist). Is anyone else in the same boat?

I just heard from my POI from ASU today. She scheduled me for a phone interview and an in person meeting at SPSP. She also said that due to funding issues, she doesn't know if she will be taking students for next fall though. While this is all informal, I figured I should share the news in case that it is useful to some.

I have 1 that was just accepted (when I applied it was under review), and 2 more in prep. And yes, at half of the places that I applied, I applied to friends of my mentors. Well I think one of my letters was good but not great. And I only want R1s because I want to become a prof at an R1. Yeah.. I'm thinking that could be the case too. I was happy with my apps but the lack of in person interviews is telling. (however, today I heard back from ASU with some good news so at least there's that) I'd rather take a number of years off than apply to a tier 2 school... Not to be vain, or anything but to make it in academia, I was told, you need to be at an R1.

Well this is my second time applying. And it's my first year off and my mentor from undergrad really did all he could to make me a better candidate and I still fell flat on my face. I think he will be mad at me. Also, this is my second SPSP (and my 13th poster). I just don't know what to do differently. I'm really working non stop on psych stuff and putting all my energy into it and I am still a horrible candidate.

Just got my rejection letter(email) from Yale. Rejection letters are starting to pour in.

I'm going to SPSP. And I'm dreading it. I am so ashamed that I didn't get even one in person interview and that all I'll get are rejection letters... I don't know how I will be able to go to the talks of my fave researchers... Heck, I am nervous that even my mentor will be embarrassed by me and upset that I was such a horrible candidate this app cycle.

Update from UIUC: I just called the program coordinator again, and she said that no one from the Social-Personality has contacted her yet about sending official rejection or acceptance emails. I mentioned that I knew that someone has received an unofficial acceptance from a professor, and the coordinator said that while professors may be contacting some applicants, "everything is still up in the air" (direct quote...whatever what means). She said that I shouldn't lose hope until I get a rejection email. I wonder if I should send an email to my POI and ask politely what's up or if I should just wait it out...

I feel you-- I feel exactly the same way... Congrats on the acceptance! By the way, may I ask where you got accepted?

Has anyone heard from Arizona State University?

Rejections too? I haven't heard anything as of right now... Is this happening for Social Psych as well?
