  1. No word from any program on this end. Anyone else?
  2. working overnight at the office for the second night in a row, but I think this is only making me more crazed....
  3. I'm incredibly paranoid about everything right now as well. Hang in there! sometimes I wonder if checking GC is always such a good idea....
  4. Thanks for this! In that case, I'll stop obsessively checking the website hoping that the email will come after the website update (if it comes, that is). I just want to hear already-- rejected or accepted, no more waiting. Berkeley is my top choice, so it's making me anxious.
  5. Yes! Except for Comp Lit. I suppose for Rhetoric and Comp Lit they need to consult more departments? Just a guess. Congrats to the Berkeley English admits, that's fantastic!
  6. Right? Esp because the UC schools have their own bureaucracy, and funding is generally more complicated.
  7. Haha it's far too late not to be paranoid
  8. So I was just on Berkeley's website and it says the application site will be down "for maintenance" on January 31st. So I guess that rules out hearing from them tomorrow, right?
  9. "The Chicago Graphic Novel" with Hillary Chute, hands down. Although it's one of the only English courses I've taken-- There are some other awesome courses I've taken that could be considered English, though. "Nabokov and Cultural Synthesis" and a course just on Pale Fire, for instance.
  10. True- I've actually never been waitlisted anywhere, always accepted or flat-out rejected. But there's a first time for everything! My distraction this week is working overtime, unfortunately. But at least I have a lot to do. Enjoy the beer
  11. WTF that's terrible! Although it does remind me of Daniel Clowes' comic strip Art School Confidential, where there's a picture of someone flipping burgers and it says "Remember, the only piece of paper less valuable than one of your paintings is a BFA degree."
  12. Said to me by a cab driver in China: You're going back to school AGAIN? Where will you find a husband?
  13. Right. That's what I can't stand about this kind of amorphous time period. At least with undergrad, you knew almost exactly when you would hear from schools!
  14. Seriously freaking over here! But that can't be helped. I think some Giles gifs are in order.
  15. Who knows, I know that UChicago's English department started doing interviews this year, and they didn't in the past. I think the number of Comp Lit departments who interview are in the minority. I haven't heard from anyone, though, so maybe that's just me being hopeful.
  16. SLDKFJSLDKFJKSDLFJSDF I assume you're talking about English, not Comp Lit, right?
  17. Congratrulations to all of you! And Katia, Madison is such a wonderful place-- they have the largest farmer's market in the Midwest, in addition to what I'm sure is a great Comp Lit program.
  18. I wholeheartedly agree with everything that's been said. Having trouble focusing at work.
  19. OH NO OH HOLY GOD. That's my first choice. Very queasy.
  20. Oh my god, your profile picture and your username-
