I called MIT admissions office this week because their visit days conflict with Georgia Tech's. Asked when they would let me know by. She said that they were still making decisions up to two weeks from now. Prodded her a bit and she said that I shouldn't count on getting an acceptance, so that sounds like MIT has issued most of their acceptances, but not all of them. Hope that helps.

You also don't have to make this decision right now. If you asked, I am pretty sure that CMU would let you set up Skype or phone interviews with POIs or even help you do that. You might find that you get along with one of them really well.

Hey. I also got into two programs at CMU. I've talked to someone in the same situation. Basically it's like deciding between two different schools. One cool part is that your advisor can be anyone in SCS, so the choice isn't as hard as it seems. It comes down to which department you feel more at home with, I think.
