  1. Hello! I will try going back to school after 5+ years in the workforce. My question is whether such is feasible, and if so, what hurdles do I need to consider? Basically, I am not sure what admission committee members look for in non-traditional students. Any comments about topics my application should address are welcomed! Below are some stats about me. I will be applying for the MS computer science graduate program. GPA: 3.82, ECE, Big State School GRE: 162V/167Q/4.5AWA 1 Patent and 1 Publication 1 year work experience as software qa 3 year work experience as embedded software eng. 1 year work experience as full-stack software eng. ... and if it counts, 2 internships prior to full-time work
  2. What schools should I target for a MSCS program if I have the following GRE score (167Q, 162V, 4.5AWA) I also think my other stats are good too like GPA (3.82), work experience (4yrs), and pubs. (1 pub + 1 patent). My weakness though is most of that work is in embedded systems and not high level CS. I am targeting for AI + robotics.
  3. Although others have received a rejection notice, I haven't received a rejection email, and my application status still shows "submitted". I applied for MS/PhD too. Am I waitlisted? What's going on?
  4. Dear applicant, Please note that the review for admissions to our MS program is currently underway. Those who indicated an interest to be considered for the MS program will be reviewed on a space availability basis. Therefore, not all of the applicants can be considered. This year, the applicant pool has been extremely competitive. The decision might be made as late as August 2015. If you have other options, we highly recommend that you exercise one of those options. Sincerely, Computer Science Graduate Admissions Stanford University So this can take longer than March? I thought decisions had to be made by April 15.
  5. Hi. I am wondering what I could do for the next round. My profile is below. Applying to MS/PhD CS - specialization AI/ML/Robotics Education: EE, from big state school GPA 3.82 GRE - 167Q/162V/4.5AWA Work experience: 3 years as embedded software engineer (new product development engineering center) 1 year as software QA (new product development engineering center) 3-4 side projects at uni and jobs 1 2nd author publication 1 2nd author patent Awards: Nothing too big. Just some departmental scholarships and awards (related to academic performance) I think one mistake I made was applying to top schools only (5 of them). Maybe I should apply to more? Also, what type of schools best fit my profile.
  6. Hello! I like many others was rejected from Stanford CS PhD program and am now waiting on a decision for its MSCS program. Unfortunately, those decisions don't happen till March 20-21 which is also the deadline for SCPD. Basically, I am interested in applying for SCPD given I am not accepted into Stanford MSCS. Would it be appropriate for me to email the admissions committee about this issue?
  7. Thanks for the feedback so far. Two more Q: 1. What is the complete list of CS classes graduate schools are looking for? 2. For research, what is the best (or usual) method of getting into a professor's lab (of your interest), doing research, and perhaps even publishing. Is it an internship or visiting student, and if so, are they paid (something for housing and food bills)? Thanks.
  8. For universities, what about the admission process? Would I need to reapply as an undergraduate? Is this similar to NDO classes? SDxx
  9. Hello! I am an EE graduate of a big state school with 3.8+ GPA and 167Q/162V/4.5AWA GRE. I have 4+ years of experience in the software industry as well as 1 2nd authored publication and patent. Unfortunately, this was not enough for top Ph.D programs for CS - specialization AI/ML/Robotics. I am wondering whether taking CS classes would help, and if so, how to go about signing up for them. If not, is the other option to do more research? I mean would the latter help a lot for M.S./Ph.D programs too? I appreciate your feedback. SDxx

  11. Are admissions for students with B.S. degree only sent out? Is admission selection of these students different from those with M.S.?
  12. What about admissions for students with B.S. degree only? Is admission selection for these students different?
  13. Are admissions for CS MS/PHD and MS out?
