  1. @namir How have you been accessing the graduate admission system on the LKY website? I haven't been able to access it since the application deadline got over. It would be great if you could let us know this! 336
  2. Hi. I am an Indian applicant as well. Having read the discussion above, I need to ask if any Indian applicants have received rejects already? Also, could people who got called for the interview share their profiles here (educational background, professional experience etc.) I haven't received any information about the interview either. Thanks! 219
  3. Congratulations to those who received funding! Can I ask you people to share your profile (education and professional experience) here? Also, have you guys accepted your offers by making the tuition fees deposit? By when are you supposed to do so? The results for the essay-based scholarships are likely to come later only given that the last date to submit the essay itself is March 31. Anyone trying for any other funding options on this forum? 610
  4. Hi. I too am from India and from the same undergrad institution. I would prefer to do a PhD in the USA later and the brand name of the Hertie School is hence, definitely a concern. I have also been told that given that the US and German educational systems are very different, the value of a German degree in the US further needs to be verified. It seems that Berlin is an international city and lack of knowledge of German may not be as problematic. But, I cannot say that it won't be a factor at all. What about the rigor of quantitative and policy analysis study at these institutions in the UK? Are the modules similart to Hertie or other professional MPP schools?
  5. Hi, Congrats for the offer! I too have received an offer of admission from the Hertie School for the MPP. I also hold an offer from SOAS, London. So, I am kind-of in the same boat as you. Can you please tell me if you have received any scholarship or tuition fees waiver from either of these institions? Well, I do not know how much a difference the tag of an MA/MSc or MPP makes. However, the Hertie School seems to be an upcoming institution while King's, UCL and Edinburgh have been well-known for a while. Yet, I ve been told that Hertie is well-known in the policy circle in Germany and even among other policy schools worldwide. However, as has been pointed out earlier, a lot depends on what you want to do after you graduate from the programme. The cost may also be something to consider (atleast it is for me). The amount you spend for a 2 year programme at Hetie will probably be equal to what you spend for 1 year at an institution in the UK. Also, could you please share with me your background? Education, professional experience etc. Thanks.
  6. Hi guys. I too have an offer from the Hertie School for the MPP for 2015-17. I have been asked to submit a deposit of 500 Euros by February 15 but am kind of undecided. Does anyone know anything about the kind of jobs one may be able to acquire after completion of the MPP programme? Do international students usually get jobs in Germany itself and are allowed to stay back? I belong to India and am interested in working with international organisations, development agencies, think thanks and maybe even non-profit bodies. Also, has anyone been able to acquire some kind of scholarship/funding until now? I see a couple of funding related comments on the forum. I also have an offer from SOAS in London for a different programme - a Masters from the Development Studies department. How, in your opinion, would these two programmes compare? Thanks a lot and best of luck to all! 723
