    Hi everyone,

I applied to 10 PhD programs. I've had one rejection and nothing from the rest. However, I've seen postings that several of these schools have already sent out interview invites. Does the lack of interview basically an indication that I have been rejected? It seems like most schools have interview weekends in mid February so it seems like they would have their invites out already. Is it safe to assume I won't get in anywhere?

At this point, you most likely missed the first wave of interviews (I only got 1/7, so I empathize /:). If applicants in the first wave don't pan out, you could hear from those programs later on. Your chances are better if you are part of the first wave, but it's not a complete lost cause. It's not a great position to be in, but it's not truly over until you hear a firm confirmation of a denial.

    Hope you got good news!
If you did, and have any q's about UCF, feel free to message! I did my undergrad there! (if they told you no, then don't even worry about it- we can talk smack about the 407)

It was good! I got to know more about the program and I'm feeling really good about my chances. At this point, I'm happy to just hear from anyone because it's been dead silence otherwise.

Hi! I completed 8 applications for PhD programs in I/O. Research interests are marginalized groups in the workplace and occupational health psychology focusing on workers with disabilities. Here is where I applied; TAMU, Portland State, Colorado State, George Mason, George Washington, DePaul, Clemson, & CUNY. Currently anxiously awaiting decisions!!

I ended up applying to a TAMU and GMU too! Haven't heard anything yet, and the Results page is filled with Clinical with no I/O atm (no matter how much I refresh!!). I'll be sure to post if I hear anything.

I was wondering this too. I plan to email something to the effect of "I think your work on x topic is fascinating and my research interests would be a good fit. I see that you are accepting graduate students this year, and I am writing to ask about your current research interests and plans for future projects." And so on. That way I'm still being proactive and also making sure that the information on their website isn't stale or that they aren't planning to pivot to a different topic in their upcoming publications. Thoughts on that approach?

I think I'm going to go in this direction too. Thanks for the idea. :) Happy to see someone was wondering the same thing.

Personally I think this is a good approach.  Just be sure to provide a little bit of background info on yourself as well (past research experience mostly).

    Thank you!!

  5. Do anyone have any ideas on how to approach a faculty member if they've already indicated in their bio page that they are planning to accept a student in this application cycle? I do want to introduce myself and make a connection, but I'm not sure what direction to take with the e-mail.
