  1. if it makes you feel any better, I got an email yesterday to set up a phone conversation. I responded with my availability but never got a response. sent another email this morning in case my email from yesterday was missed...no response. called and left a voicemail for the person who initially emailed me...no response. now I really have no idea what to make of the situation?
  2. did they give you any idea who might be coming in to take their places?
  3. I got an out-of-nowhere email to set up a "short phone conversation" with the vice dean of art for tomorrow as well. I also thought USC was a done deal at this point, so I'm not sure what to make of this either?
  4. Yep, that's what the grad coordinator told me when I asked her about where I might be on the wait list.
  5. My feeling exactly. Kinda seems like everyone who interviewed and wasn't immediately offered admission might be on the wait list. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  6. U of Chicago's wait list is the same way. They want a diverse group of students, so the type of work the person who declines admission makes will determine who on the wait list is offered their spot.
  7. Anyone hear good news from DoVA - U of Chicago? Found out this morning that I'm on the wait list.
  8. Knew it was coming, but I got my official rejection from UT Austin this morning.
  9. It was a Skype interview and that definitely was a factor. We got cut off halfway through, and there were technical issues throughout. On two occasions, they were asking each other questions about my work, but, because of the delay, I thought they were directing the questions to me, so that was awkward. I also asked a question that I think kind of offended them. In addition to all that, the interview started about 25 minutes late, and it was definitely rushed, as as they were doing their best to get back on track with their interview schedule. All in all, it just didn't feel like we were ever able to get into a real conversation. It's too bad because the four faculty who conducted the interview were definitely the four I was the most interested in talking to and, ideally, working with. Unfortunately, my gut tells me that's just not going to happen.
  10. It went terribly, but thank you! Unfortunately, I don't know how they're going to let me know that I didn't get accepted. Haha. Good luck with the other schools you're applying to!
  11. I had a Skype interview with UC Irvine on Tuesday, and their in-person interviews were scheduled for the week before. I was told by another prospective student that decisions would likely be coming in the next week or two.
  12. any suggestions around university of chicago? definitely not finding anything in that price range in hyde park. mind me asking what neighborhood you're in?
  13. How was it, bannedinbc? I couldn't attend the full-day event because it was happening at the same time as my interview in Chicago. Have a skype interview scheduled in a couole of days, though.
  14. Anyone have interviews at U of Chicago or UC Irvine this week?
  15. Definitely been a lurker for a couple of weeks now, so taking this opportunity to add to the topic. At the moment, I have interviews scheduled at DOVA, University of Chicago and UC Irvine. Still waiting to hear from UT Austin (though it sounds like they've already sent out interview requests), UConn, UCLA, and USC.
