It depends on what department you will be going to. Hopkins is Hopkins - it will definitely open more funding doors when you look at the actual name of the school in a grant application. However, it depends on what you want to do with the degree. WUSTL is great for health policy and health services. Can you share more info?

Gainsville is a college town - there isn't much to do outside of the UF environment. I would be bored out of my mind, but that is just me There is so much culture and fun stuff to do in Atlanta!

My roommate from Rollins got her degree in the HPM department and she really loved it. She is currently finishing her PhD in Brown University. I am biased towards Emory - they are SOLID in public health and you have a myriad of resources available that will help you grow professionally (CDC, American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, etc). Also, they have the BEST career services program of any public health school. They will help you find jobs even as an alumn and they have SO many contacts. I think you would thoroughly enjoy Atlanta! I cannot speak to biostats, but I can speak to Emory vs Florida. I went to Emory for my MPH and it has been by far the best decision ever. As an international student, being able to access resources like CDC and hundreds of other resources is something that you cannot get at Florida. I have been living and working in Florida the past 5 years, and the difference is staggering. Additionally, Emory has a plethora of professors both in the Biostats dept and outside that can get you exposure to great education AND great resources for when you graduate (BEST career services department). Good luck on your decision!

HOPKINS, hands down. My husband is a physician, and Johns Hopkins is synonymous with medicine! Just like nabualh1 said above, JHU is the place to be for medicine. I just spoke to a Harvard MD alum and she said the same thing. That being said, you will not go wrong. So go with your gut and CONGRATULATIONS!

So, you have to consider whether you would accept any of the other programs over JHU - and how you would feel if you accept at JHU and then get into another program later. If JHU is your top choice, regardless of what other programs may say or offer you, then jump in. But if you aren't 100% sure, you still have time. I just accepted my offer a few days ago, but remember you literally have until April 15th in most programs. Your spot is safe until then

Hi! So, I wouldn't really worry too much about the time it takes you to get through an answer vs. making sure you are clear, confident and consistent. I just got back from a day of eight 30-min interviews and sometimes I would have to talk a little more about why I ended up in my current interests, which went well over a minute. A longer answer is fine if it makes sense A good way to practice is to explain what you do to a family member, colleague or friend. They can tell you if you made sense to them, which is a great sign. You will do great!

I got my BSHE from Emory and it was hands down the best decision I've ever made. The department is SOLID, extremely invested in their students, across the street from CDC and just overall amazing. Have had two jobs in different PH areas since graduating and have noticed my training has been stronger than other MPH counterparts. Applying for PhDs now and have gotten into 3 of 5 programs so far, and I truly think my training helped me get there. Good luck and congrats!
