  1. I just got an offer to the MScPl program and I'm heavily considering it. I actually already live right across the street from the bookstore, but it's a terrible tiny place so I sort of want to upgrade. I may live further from campus and bike in so I can have some luxuries...like laundry, or a window that doesn't face a brick wall, or walls/ceiling without raccoons (student housing is rough out here).
  2. You might be able to find better reviews over at Cyburbia. I don't see the planning applicants section being very strong here (I tried to start a "Canadian Applicants" thread---haha one post)
  3. Hey! Sure. GPA is a bit complicated because I have a lot of transfer credits--but an A average at my home uni. 3 years experience in communications/web design 1 year as a coordinator of an environmental and community based co-operative 1 summer working in policy at the provincial level 1 outreach/research internship with a community centre in a disadvantaged neighbourhood Various volunteer gigs at community/planning-based events 2 semesters abroad (one was just in another part of Canada) strong LORs I applied by their Jan deadline--I think it was due the 15th?
  4. Hey everyone! There isn't much activity over on the Cyburbia forums, so I thought some of you might be hanging out here. Who's all applying for Urban Planning for the fall? I'll most likely be at Ryerson, which I'm super excited about. It fits perfectly with my career goals.
  5. Sorry to hear! I would accept the offer, personally. Judging from your original post, it sounds like you may be leaning a bit towards Ryerson anyway. Do they have an international option to take a semester abroad? Also the student housing situation in Amsterdam is insane. Keep that in mind.
  6. Hey! I was also accepted to a program at Ryerson (Urban Planning) but the deposit isn't due for a month or two. Are you sure you've read it right? (Sorry to sound condescending, but for your sake I'm hoping this is the case!)
  7. Hi amyboo91! As for funding, I'm not sure. I'm in the same situation. I'm still waiting for my official documentation regarding the fellowship I was offered. I have, however, received the official acceptance letter. I'll update if I find out! And for places to rent--it really depends. Toronto is overall pretty safe, but there are some areas on the east side of downtown that have high rates of homelessness, drug addicts, and muggings. This would be places like Sherbourne/Queen or around Moss Park. If you go west, you can get into areas that cater to both U of T and Ryerson students. The Annex is a beautiful neighbourhood, very student friendly (but not nearly all students, plenty of young families and older residents), and very cheap with a wide variety of places to get food and drinks. You will be paying a decent amount, though. Right now I'm at College/Spadina and I'm looking to move more north/west to get more value for my money. I'll be biking to campus either way. You'll want to take a look at the TTC lines before making any sort of decision. subway>streetcar, always. Ryerson can be accessed by Dundas and College stations.
  8. Hey everyone! I'll be at Ryerson this fall for the Urban Development/Planning program (Masters). I'm a Toronto native (and I actually live pretty close to the uni right now), so I can answer any questions you may have about coming to Toronto! I did my undergrad at York in Environmental Studies. Who will be joining us at Ryerson this fall? Excited to meet everyone
