  1. I just looked back at last years Results page and noticed that very few people posted about their Brown results. Interesting. I wonder if they asked they're accepted applicants not to post on forums. I know, it's irrelevant; I just noticed.
  2. Bobcat, Since sending your writing sample to McNeese, have you received any sort of email at all (like a confirmation that it was received)?
  3. How do I get my applied to/ rejected/ Accepted ratio to show at the bottom of my messages?
  4. Greyhound1, And one day, we'll probably be members of MFA admissions committees. haha.
  5. Can you imagine what goes into deciding who's in or out? It must be quite a process.
  6. HeyIowa, Your willingness to show proof satisfies me, personally. LOL @ the emoticons. Congrats!
  7. I'd love to know how many of the Iowa acceptances posted here are true. I heard today (from someone in the industry who has no reason to lie) that Iowa generally doesn't start calling their accepted applicants until March (consistently). I was also warned that every year people (trollers) get on forums and claim to have received acceptances from the most popular programs. Of course, this doesn't mean Iowa, for example, didn't start a couple of weeks early this year, but my point is that we really just have to wait and see (especially when it comes to the super popular programs). Should we start demanding an uploaded photo of the acceptance email? LOL I'm kidding.
  8. Shoopster, I had the same concern before applying, but a lot of tenured professors with multiple degrees (before they got their PhDs) told me to toss that concern out the window. I did just that.
  9. Has anyone seen mention of any Brown fiction acceptances in the Facebook Draft group?
  10. Hello All, Do you know anything about LIU's MFA program (aside from what's on the website, of course)? Any rumors (good or bad), insider info, etc.?
  11. I think I'd enjoy learning from Rafia Zafar at WUSTL.
  12. Thank you, HeyIowa. I can't imagine it happening, either. I've read a few posts about programs giving people an accept/deny deadline before other schools have blasted out their decisions, and I was wondering what people do. Congrats on your acceptances. If my pleading prayers get through the roof, maybe we'll meet in Iowa. :-)
  13. Anyone, What happens if a person accepts an offer and then decides they don't want to attend? Is there some sort of financial penalty?
  14. I am a POC. Junot Diaz's article in the New Yorker, "MFA vs POC," was an interesting read. All we can do is hope that we'll get into a program where the faculty, and our classmates, will appreciate diversity (truely). My writing sample gives a very clear indication that my writing will mostly be ethnic. My personal statement also explains why I write the types of stories I write. I think being honest in personal statements will help ensure that we don't get into a program where we'd experience a lot of those "too ethnic" types of comments from anyone.
  15. Thanks, Octoberstormxx.
  16. Hello Group, For those of you who made it into the Drafts group on Facebook, can you tell me about how many people said they received an acceptance from Iowa (fiction)? In the "Results" list here on this site, I've seen about 3. I know everyone won't post, but I'm trying to get an idea of how many have posted their acceptances. I wish you all the very best of luck, and I hope our wait won't be much longer.
