  1. I'm having a hard time choosing between two masters programs in the same department, they fall under the same field but not exactly too closely related. I thought I had made up my mind on program A, but I recently received an email from a POI of program B reinforcing his interest in having me as a grad student to work on these exciting researches together, and strongly urging me to consider program B. I'm very conflicted at this point, overall, I am more interested in the more technical skill sets I can obtain from program A, but I still am interested in certain theoretical topics from program B and would love to do research with that particular professor. Has anyone been in similar situations before? Is there a possibility that I can negotiate some sort of compromise with the school to be involved in both?
  2. I was recently accepted via email to two MS programs within the same college. On the email the admissions offers sent to congratulate my acceptance with attached acceptance letters, the department heads of both programs were also copied. The admission officer also said in the email that I can write to them at any time with questions. I replied to all to thank them, reiterate my interest in the programs and ask when I can potentially arrange for a visit to meet with faculty and students. It's been almost a week and no reply from any of them. I feel kind of awkward as I have replied to 6 people and I'm pretty sure they've all seen it by now, should I follow up with another email or wait a little longer?
  3. I'm not sure if it's an indication of a good sign, could just be that they need all documents before they begin the review process. I also recently got a similar email for one of my "reach" schools that I'm pretty sure I don't stand a chance for. Although I got slightly hopeful, I looked around this forum and saw many people in the past who got the same email also got rejected a week or two later.
  4. Thanks Biochemmom! That's what I was thinking too, I just feel bad to accept the job and then either turn it down or quit shortly after. Hopefully employers don't mind it too much haha
  5. I have just received a really good job offer, but I don't believe the MA programs I've applied for will release their decisions until two weeks from now. I think it'd be too unethical to take the job only to leave for grad school a few months later; but I'm also really scared of the possibility of not getting into any schools (only applied to 3), and if I pass up on the offer now, I'd be stuck at my current dead end job for another year or more. Should I email the admission coordinators to ask them when exactly the decisions will be out? I feel like this might be a frivolous effort. What would you do if you were in my situation?
