  2. For UIC I would say Blue Line is a great option! I really like the neighborhood of Logan Square, which is right along the blue line. There are a lot of affordable apartments and it's a very trendy neighborhood. Alternatively, along the blue line you also have the neighborhood of Jefferson Park, which is more of a family oriented neighborhood if that is something you are more interested in. I'll admit I am a bit biased as a life-long Northsider. But I hope this helps all the same! I am moving to Nashville for grad school in July, but feel free to message me if you have any other questions about UIC/Chicago.
  3. Hi Everyone! I accepted the offer from Vanderbilt last Friday, been trying to figure out when I should move down/find an apartment since I will begin working with my department starting in July. Is it normal/acceptable to contact students who are already in the program and pick their brains about neighborhoods to look for housing?
  4. I say take the leap and be adventurous! Program A sounds amazing and going to a new place might give you perspective that you wouldn't get if you stayed in DC. I would check into the connections that professors at Program A might have too, because they could have amazing experiences to offer also. Program B sounds very appealing from a prestige standpoint, but being part of something new and exciting could mean amazing things for the future.
