I think I was more relieved than anything. But here is my round-up: Accepted: UCSD Rejected: UCLA Still applying: San Diego State, Cal State LA Im going to submit the last two next week, and then I can call it a day!

I got my nomination on February 12 and I got the official acceptance email on the February 18th. Hopefully, you'll get the official acceptance soon!

Hi there, I got "recommended/nominated" for admission two weeks ago, and I got the official acceptance a week ago. So, it means your in! Congrats! All you have to do now is wait for the graduate division to approve the nomination. Hope this helps!

Whoa, you got the funding confirmed already?! If so, Congrats. I am on the same boat as both of you, not exactly a worthy enough applicant for decent Anthropology PhD programs. What I want out of the MA programs is to gain more research experience, improve my Spanish (i can speak and read, but not write), and build relationships with professors who can help me in the future

Yes, I loved both states, but Guanajuato more so. I guess I need to visit other Latin American countries. Honestly, I decided to apply for an MA in LAS on a whim. But I think I also decided to do it because of my heritage (I'm Mexican-American) and because I've always found my trips to Mexico to be more than interesting. I guess I just want to formalize my lifelong observations! But I also want to use the MA as a stepping stone for a PhD program (hopefully Anthropology)

Wow, you've have been to a lot of places. I've mostly been to Mexico, mainly Aguascalientes (where my parents are from), Guanajuato, and Michocan. I'd love to go to Central and South America though, I just want to see if it differs a bit.

Yes, Im thinking UCLA is most likely going to contact through email. I guess we'll just have to wait. And I believe their Graduate Opportunity Fellowship (the equivalent of the San Diego Fellowship) is $20,000 plus tuition. BUT, it is super expensive to LA and especially in Westwood, where UCLA is at. Same goes UCSD too, UCSD is in La Jolla, which is also super expensive. Generally, California is just plain expensive, but Im told the weather beats the rest of the country (honestly, this is just from what my acquaintences tell me, I haven't really gone out of state). I believe from what I read the Department writes a letter to the fellowship committee, so hopefully that helps our nominations! And bummer about the UT rejection, but you got into UCSD, which is pretty hard to get into! Good luck!

Here's the list of the places I've applied/currently applying to: UCSD (accepted with fellowship nomination) UCLA (applied-no response yet) San Diego State (currently applying to) Cal State LA (currently applying to) I'm from Southern California, so I applied to the local programs because I can't really afford to go out of state (nor do I really want to). As for my focus, I put that I am interested on focusing on intersections related to urbanization (I want to look at culture, politics, and urban development) Twenty six, is the wait for UCLA killing you? Because it's killing me, it's been a good two months since we submitted the app!
