  1. Colorado State for a PhD in I/O psychology!
  2. Sounds good, I'll look for your PM. I'm leaning towards Colorado St. right now, but if I get in to Penn State I am most definitely attending there...from PA originally and would really like to get back. That's one thing I'll warn you about, if you're from the north and you're not used to it down here, it can be a bit exasperating! But Gainesville is much more tolerable than most other cities down here so good luck.
  3. Definitely. Just went to Tampa this weekend from Gville. Hey, who will you be working with here if you don't mind me asking? I guess that goes for everyone accepted to UF...I'm interested in what you guys will be studying and who you'll be working with.
  4. I don't know your other options as far as outdoor activities, but Gainesville and the surrounding area is actually pretty good as far as that goes. We have a bunch of nature trails and kayak/canoe spots within 20 minutes or so, UF owns its own lake about 15 minutes off campus called Lake Wauberg, where you can rock climb, swim, paddleboat, etc. There are tons of camping and backpacking places within an hour or so drive, all involving backpacking, canoeing, and snorkeling. But if you like skiing, whitewater rafting, and other things like that then obviously it doesn't offer much there. UF does have an organization that plans weekend trips and provides transportation, food, gear and the like all for a very reasonable price. I'm going whitewater rafting in South Carolina next weekend through that organization, so it's a very outdoorsey community with some cool stuff nearby and opportunities to travel elsewhere.
  5. Akron, Maryland, and South Florida...what are their deals? No word yet and it's almost April! I'm sure that means its not good news, but still they should let us know soon I think. Everyone know where they want to go yet? Or are they still undecided/up in the air like me?
  6. I had a phone interview with GWU a few days ago and they'll be getting back to me in the coming days. He said they received 110 applicants and are only accepting 2 or 3, and they interviewed about 15 students. They're not having a visitation weekend or anything like that, and he said they wanted to get people's answers before the SIOP conference, sometime in early April. I saw someone else was waitlisted at BGSU...so was I. Did they tell you how many people were on it by chance? I met a guy who got in to BGSU during my visitation at Oklahoma, and he isn't going to BGSU he said. So that opens up one spot!
  7. Thanks for all the advice guys. I've decided to email my two POI at Penn State not so much to ask where I stand/how many people are on the list, but more so updating them on what I've been doing lately and basically to re-emphasize my desire to go there. Since it was so long ago that I actually applied, I figured that simply updating them would look good and it would make sense, plus it would get my name in their heads I guess. I got waitlisted at another program and I did ask where I stand/how many on the list...no response yet. Have a good spring break everyone!
  8. Thanks and congrats to you to on CUNY! That's awesome; were they high on your list?? And did you apply for MA or PHD at GMU? I don't know where I am on the waitlist, and I'm actually wondering if it is beneficial or an annoyance if I were to email a couple of professors at PSU to re-emphasize how much I would love to attend. I want to go there for so many personal reasons I can't even begin to explain, but I feel like it would be an annoyance to blabber on about it to them. Ahh this is nerve-wracking.
  9. Hey GBear. I haven't heard back from any of those schools except George Washington, I just got an email today and we're setting up a phone interview. Hopefully you've heard something similar! Found out I got waitlisted at Penn State, so if any kind souls would like to decline their offers for me, that would be great haha
  10. I was just wondering if anyone knew the subtle nuances of the waitlist...namely how many students are usually on it. I know it must vary from university to university and from program to program, but does anyone have any experience in hearing how many students are usually placed on it and maybe even the likelihood of getting a good news calls once you're placed on one? I guess I just got placed on one today and the program only admits 3 students, so I'm trying to figure out the likelihood of acceptance at this point. Thanks!
  11. Thank you! And sorry to hear about Portland, I know a lot of people applied there and I didn't even really think about it but now I wish I had, although 4/100 doesn't leave much room! The notices will come flooding in for us come early March, just wait and see!
  12. Hey guys...I found out from CSU and OU via phone call (OU actually called me on my birthday on Tuesday, so that was exciting!). The OU orientation is next weekend, so I don't know what that means for those who applied and haven't heard yet. I'm sure not everyone who was accepted will go there, so if you're on a waiting list then have no fear. MSU and Illinois sent me a letter, and Minnesota sent me an email indicating that the letter was available online. It seems to me (and if the last post is in fact true) that a lot of programs have sent out their offers already and will be having visitation times in early/middle March. But obviously the decisions won't be made for a while after, so I'm keeping hope that I'll hear from some of my top top choices. I'll PM you MissRyan!
  13. Man. The Big Ten does not like me. Rejected from Michigan State, Minnesota, and Illinois. But the Big 12 likes me for some reason, got in to Oklahoma and Colorado State. Hopefully this trend doesn't continue though, I'd really like to get in to PSU! Anyone else heard anything??
  14. I'd love to hear that good news, and I'll be in Gville to show you around too haha! Best of luck
  15. Ouch, the one department I really don't have much contact with. I don't know anything about Wynne nor do I know any grad students in behavior analysis, but if you are at all interested in Dr. Dallery I can vouch for him. I actually played golf with him once and he was a really cool, down to earth guy. About the University of Florida...I would highly recommend it. Great city, great atmosphere, the psych department has great faculty members (although the building isn't much to look at!) I'm friends with a number of grad students and I don't hear many bad things at all. Very diverse group of grad students. I know a lot more about the counseling, clinical, and social psych programs if there's anyone else out there. As far as behavior analysis...that's all I've got. Feel free to PM me if you want to know anything else about UF or Gainesville, or other members of the psych department though, and as always, good luck!
