  1. mine is also at an end. i got into WVU off the wait list (in creative nonfiction). I'm pretty happy about it because it's a good program that has turned out pretty successful writers. Also heard good things about Morgantown. Lots of teaching, but a very good stipend. Also, I would get to teach workshops in my third year! I had also been wait listed at Oregon State, and I emailed Elena about when we'd know if we'd receive offers or not. She said one of the people they made an offer to STILL has not even responded, so they're in a weird situation because they can't rescind their offer. Any way, I really appreciated her honesty, and she encouraged me to take the solid offer I have, rather than to wait around. It's shitty when people don't respect the April 15 deadline because I do think that in this case my choices were limited as a result. PS-- fuck North Carolina State for not notifying til April 17. I had written them off anyway, but when you're charging 70 bucks per application maybe you could be timely in revealing your decision?? And no, I wasn't on a wait list. At least not an official one. I'm just glad this whole 6 month mess is over, that I finally know what I'm doing in the fall, and that the program is pretty much all I could have hoped for. Congratulations to everyone who received offers this season. Still wishing all of you in wait list limbo the best and hoping an offer comes through.
  2. the mcneese wait list seems suspiciously huge
  3. waitlist at McNeese in fiction. anyone know how big the waitlist is? i saw at least 2 other posts in the main thread. ugh i hope it's not a huge wait list. i'm still weighing an offer in creative nonfiction at UNO, but it's looking less and less likely that i'll be able to swing it. it seems like a great program and they were refreshingly open about not being able to offer me much funding. they seemed genuinely excited about my writing and are trying to work out a way for all tuition/fees to be waived, but they can't promise me anything. at this point, i need a promise. i'm still wait listed at oregon state and west virginia, both in creative nonfiction. the latter seemed particularly promising and i hope that one or both will wind up making me an offer. honestly, i'd be thrilled to go to any of the schools where i'm wait listed, with a preference for McNeese since I'm already finishing an MA in cnf. i got rejections from arizona, alabama, florida, and wyoming... presumed rejected from north carolina state since someone posted upthread about receiving a wait list notification. i wanted to close by saying how absolutely egregious the montana incident is, and i truly feel for those of you who received the false acceptance. i can't even fathom what that must have felt like. i know many of us are still weighing offers/waiting to hear the final word about wait lists and such, but the MFA season is almost over. i just want to move on with my life, hopefully with an offer somewhere.
  4. i saw a couple of rejections came out from florida yesterday and i still haven't heard anything. not sure what to think...
  5. i also applied there and haven't heard a word. however, i'm not in the facebook group. i think we'll hear a response pretty late in the game given how late the application deadline was (february 11).
  6. I guess right now they can only admit 2 students in CNF... not sure if my acceptance is pending more funding coming through or 1/2 people declining. I'm trying not to get my hopes too high. Ugh he made a comment that they might not have all the offers out til AFTER april 15 (What the HELL?!)
  7. i don't want to post back-to-back, but a recent waitlist email i got seemed sort of strange to me. They sent me a letter which was pretty standard, but then followed up by email. Reading the email over again, the opening is what threw me for the biggest loop: "While I can’t be sure, I suspect that it is not unlikely that you will be admitted with a graduate teaching assistantship." on one hand, it would be great if I'm admitted. on the other, after an email like this, it would be really wretched if i'm not. anyone else ever receive waitlist communication like this?
  8. I also applied to NCSU and haven't heard a word. I'm not in the MFA draft though.
  9. got news that i'm in at UNO and waitlisted at WVU for nonfiction. wvu said they said they had sent out correspondences by mail but were following up with email. i've been in new orleans for a week so I obviously haven't seen my mail. the email was really nice, but i've heard some questionable things about turmoil in the dept. still, this is better than the two rejections in a day
  10. a no in nonfiction from alabama. also a no from wustl in fiction. i knew wustl was not going going to happen, but damn, getting those back-to-back was pretty fucking brutal
  11. I haven't heard from WVU either. I also applied in nonfiction. I got a highly personalized email from Oregon State on Friday night. I'm on what appears to be a very small waitlist. I guess that's better than a flat-out rejection, but I really hope I'll hear a "yes" from one of the programs I applied to.
  12. No, which bothered me.
  13. Hello! I can't handle the craziness of the MFA draft, but I like keeping up with all of you here. I applied to 9 programs in 2 genres this year. Nonfiction: -U of Arizona -Wyoming -West Virginia -U of New Orleans -Oregon State Fiction: -U of Florida -Lousiana State -McNeese -North Carolina State So far I've only heard back from Wyoming and it was a rejection. It was disappointing but not too shocking given how small the program is. Always shitty to hear bad news first rather than to have some security. I'm finishing an MA in nonfiction at Ohio U so I think I have better chances in nonfiction, but sometimes you just never know. I am starting to wonder if I was crazy for applying in 2 genres. Anyway, good luck to everyone.
